If I were allowed to pick one (and only one) salad place in the city, sweetgreen definitely beats the other choices by a large margin. It is not only about getting the freshest ingredient and the tastiest dressing, but also about flawless service that complete impressed its customers.
I came in on a not-supposed-to-be-busy Friday evening to grab a bowl, and there were about 3 people in front of me, each getting about 3 salads. It indeed took an extremely long time to get them served so I could not help but to stand there and wait. It was all right as I was not in a hurry anyway. But when my server came to me, he not only apologized for the long wait, but also offered a free drink to compensate. This was not an issue at all!
Time to talk about their salad. So this time I tried the spicy sabzi, with organic tofu and spicy quinoa, aside from the green base. The carrot vinaigrette dressing made it really stand out – spicy food lovers, get this bowl or you will regret!
I am unfortunately no longer a fan of Sweetgreen.
1. Steelhead portion size has diminished to where it's actually quite laughable sometimes.
2. Lines are ludicrous.
3. Online ordering app doesn't always work.
4. Pickup times are quoted out 45 – 60 minutes! Not delivery but pickup. This is insanely inconvenient as I can't always order that far in advance.
5. Food just isn't as tasty as it used to be. Beets are dry and hard, rice is clumpy, fish is dry, etc.
6. Prices have gone up about $0.50 in the last week or so.
I have no problem paying big bucks for a salad but it absolutely has to be good. Since Sweetgreen's salads are no longer good I'm sadly going to have to take it out of my work-lunch rotation.
So this is the second time I visit one of their locations, and decided to give this location a try. The space is nice, airy and bright, the service is very fast and accommodating when it comes to substituting items from the pre-selected menu items. I was lucky to score a table as I was there during the peak of a weekday lunch hour. I must say the salad bowls are so generously created and super filling that I had to leave at least 10 bites in my bowl. I truly enjoy how the items are blended together to create a unique taste like it's a party in your mouth lol. The only complaint I have, is that there's a huge staff present while you're eating and they have their own section to have their meals and can get a bit rowdy and unprofessional at times. As I was eating my meal, i observed that crowd and at times felt, where is the manager in this chaos? Other than that, I don't have any other issues with this place. The menu items are optimal in my book!
I am obsessed with sweetgreen! The salads are packed, dressed well, and delicious as hell. My favorite is 'Beets don't kale my vibe'. Whoever named the menu is a genius.
Like most people who have reviewed this spot, I too am not much of a salad fan. Until coming across Sweetgreen. Totally kills Chop't and all of the options are super flavorful and yummy. My faves are the Hummus Tahina and I'm munching on the Avocobbo now as I write this. Portion sizes are very generous – you get half an avocado, a lot of bacon (can't say no to bae-con) and kale leaves which makes me happy 🙂 Their portion sizes are big enough for you to save half for lunch the next day, which I've done the past few times coming here. I hope they introduce more combinations soon! Also, I came here at 7.30pm and the line had snaked around to the front door (on a Monday night nonetheless) so I highly recommend ordering in advance on their app. Thank you for making me love salads again, Sweetgreen!
Went here yesterday for the first time…and I discovered that I could probably eat a Harvest Bowl every day of my life and never get sick of it. SO. GOOD.
It was a crowded place at approx 2pm for lunch, but the energetic employees kept the line moving quickly. It's "Chipotle-style", where you can pick a pre-designed bowl (like my Harvest Bowl), or DIY. Each one is made in a plastic bowl for eating there or taking it to go. Portion size is perfect for a lunch that'll stick with you for the afternoon.
I'm just visiting NYC, but I'm definitely going to try to get back here again on my short trip!
How did I not discover this sooner?! I stopped by this joint with my friends on our way for African food and that was a great decisión. After staring at the menú for an extremely long time, we decided to order two bowls for the three of us because we wanted a light snack. When the bowl was being prepped, we were surprised with the portion and decided to only have one. Since she knew we were all sharing it, she added moré proteín on the house! Besides that act of kindness, we had our bowl on the house since it was our first time there! Say what?! A free meal? Yep. Life is sweet. She also gave us three slices of bread. Hands down, the best customer service. We sat down and gobbled it up in a matter of milliseconds. The earth bowl, for $10, was phenomenal. I missed eating salad and having a little bit of quinoa was a nice kick. The earth bowl's main green was arugula, my favorite, and the dressing was pesto. Can that combo get any better!? Their signature bowls aré moré cost effective since the customizable bowls' price accumulates based on what you add. Overall, if you aré searching for an affordable, healthy, refreshing, light meal, I highly recommend coming here!
Beets Don't Kale My Vibe. Not Very Nicoise. The Grain Gatsby. Kale Ceasar. Rad Thai.
Only one of those is made up.
They have some awesome salads, whether you're closer to the level I started at ("Kale Salad with no kale please") or closer to my girlfriend's level ("Beets really DON'T kale my vibe!") They give you a full meal worth of salad, between the meat, grains, cheese, veggies, etc, and sometimes on a Sunday night, when maybe your stomach isn't feeling great and maybe you're too tired to cook, it's a great place to end up. My current Sunday night tradition!
