  1. Oh sweetgreen, how I love you. I didn't want to love you, but I do. I had to bump you from 4 to 5 stars just because of how often I go here and how much I love your salads (mostly because I feel fit and healthy afterwards).

Ps – download the app! Super easy and convenient to order online or pay with the app in store!

  2. Tried Sweetgreen for the first time this week and it may just be my new favorite salad spot. I had the "Beets Don't Kale my Vibe" (sorry, Kendrick) and it was great! Wild rice, kale, beets, pecans, chicken, and a generous dollop of goat cheese, which I forgot to ask them to exclude because soft cheeses don't get along with my stomach, but it was all delicious nonetheless! Flavors were great, very fresh. Pricey (over $12 and I was still a bit hungry after), but I guess that's because of the local, organic ingredients, which I'm totally down for. Glad that's becoming a thing these days.

The environment was relaxing, minimally decorated, but this particular location was kind of tight, maybe five small tables against the windows. Since it's across the street from Columbia, it's always packed with students, so probably best to order to go.

The day I visited, around 5:15pm the line stretched the length of the salad bar and back out the door, but it only took around eight minutes to get my food. (Aside, the first thing I noticed when walking in was that there was zero diversity one way with the staff behind the counter, and zero diversity another way with who was in line. Just a sociological observation. Probably just my timing. Made me feel kind of weird, but anyway…) Great salad!

  3. I ordered the kale caesar salad and it was actually pretty good, however it is quite costly (~$9).

In terms of service, I can understand why there's so much frustration regarding it. I can't say that my salad took a long time to prepare, but I did notice that the employee who was serving me spent the first couple of minutes chatting before finally taking my order and even then she took her time to prepare it. I noticed that was the case for other customers as well.

Overall, it's tasty but I highly doubt I'll be going back again…

  4. Absolutely delicious! I had the Avocobbo and I would eat it again in a heart beat. The service was quick, efficient and friendly. Very fresh ingredients.

  5. Decent salads and quinoa bowls. This location, like everything else around these parts, is overrun with undergraduates who should stick to their meal plans….Anyway, Sweetgreen is kind of taking America by storm these days. It's great to have another healthy, fast-casual experience thrown into the mix.

They offer lots of tasty options and now the app, which allows you to skip all the human interaction- right up my alley! You can order from their reasonably varied menu, or go for the "create your own" option if you're feeling inspired.

Everything is wonderfully fresh, and fairly low-calorie if not completely low-fat. It's a great addition to the area for faster lunch options when I'm running low on time. If you're feeling green or on a health kick, you should stop here for your next meal.

  6. I think all the bad reviews/ ratings are towards the service in this place. The food is great! It's so fresh and fulfilling. However, the people working here are so slow and spent too much time talking to others/playing by themselves then working. That's why most of the time I went to dig inn because it's more efficient there. some workers don't even know what's in their signature salads and had to ask what to put. Please provide better training for your employees.

  7. This is the best thing that happened to Morningside Heights in recent few years. All their salads and rice bowls are delicious, and you can tell the ingredients are fresh and high-quality. You can also customize your meal, which is what I usually end up doing (wild rice, chicken or tofu, sprouts, avocado, pepper, spicy broccoli and spicy cashew dressing is an excellent combination). The staff are very friendly as well. I once got charged twice for my salad by accident and they couldn't refund it to my card right away because of technical issues and asked me to come back next day. When I did, they not only gave me a free salad, but also gave me a $40 gift card! In sum, their service is incredible.

That being said, my few complaints with this place: (1) there aren't enough tables, and the venue gets incredibly cramped with people waiting in line, so sit-down isn't really an option (2) the wait gets pretty long during peak lunch and dinner hours (think around 15 minutes at least) (3) it's expensive – I usually pay around $9-13 bucks for my salad/rice bowl, and the portion isn't huge either so it could leave you hungry despite a free piece of bread they give you.

Nonetheless, this is definitely the best salad place in all of Morningside Heights and a great option for people looking for a light and healthy meal.

  8. I've generally always enjoyed my experiences at sweetgreen. This was my first experience at this branch, and sadly it was a little disappointing.

It wasn't crowded, so there was no reason for the line to go slowly as indicated in other reviews. In fact, I was able to order as soon as I entered. What disappointed me was the lack of professionalism that the other branches of sweetgreen always displayed. I gave my order but person helping me struggled to make it a lot. It confused me because the recipe is literally written on the menu on the wall. The workers I observed moved quite slowly, and rather clumsily. When they poured the salad into the plastic bowls, much of it spilled. It was messy. They forgot to offer bread to another customer.

This branch itself is clean and ingredients are fresh as sweetgreen is known for. But maybe this branch needs a little more training, because the workers' lack of professionalism was affecting not only the service experience but also the quality of the food.
