Walking past Mithaas, one can't help but notice the fresh mithaee (indian sweets) staring back from the large glass cases. Hence, the temptation overtook my senses and i stumbled inside. Unlike most pakistani/indian spots, Mithaas is clean and the aroma of fresh food make this place a viable stop for families and friends.
Their mithaee was fresh and priced at the standard $6/lb, however wasn't anything special. On the other hand, their Jalebi was sweet and crispy and definitely was their best offering for the day.
Overall, the prices are fair and the place is clean, thus making it a spot worth visiting at least once.
came for dinner, and enjoyed ourselves. wish they had more prepped food available though so we didn't have to wait too long. they were very hospitable and brought us the food to our table with plates and napkins and a jug of tap water. the menu on the wall has a slight glare to it and the font is quite small so if you have no idea what you want you will be squinting and tippy toeing. it was pretty busy for a weeknight dinner and we did enjoy the meal. will prob be back for more! their display of pastries seemed never ending and i was really tempted but was super full from the dinner.
How have I not yet rated this place?!?
This is my go-to place with my gal pals whenever we're in the area. It's not too small, not huge. Just right..
The food is also pretty good and fresh (only one [out of 10-15 times I've been there] incident when I bought gol gappe made to take home only to find later on that the filling had gone bad… )
What pulls us in there is the keema nan with that sweet sauce and green sauce that they have. The hint of spiciness is just enough to keep us wanting more!
The slim, late 40something(?) year old man there is also super nice and friendly!
Not a bad place to get your sweet or savory fix.
It's Ramadan so I got the illest cravings like a pregnant woman. I had the need to get some Indian desserts for some reason. Whenever I'm fasting I got a taste for certain food – I don't know why lol
I live reasonably close so I thought I'd just walk to Coney Iskand and check out the local south asain places – I came in and saw my all time favorite desserts "Gulab Jamun" which are like syrup soaked mini donuts and "Jalebi" – a deep fried batter shaped in to a pretzel like shake and covered with a thick & sticky syrup. They sell by the pound so I got 1 of Jalebi and half of Gulab. A pound is six dollars so it's reasonable. You get a lot for the money.
Well, long story short – I bought 1.5 pds, took it home, ate it during the evening with family, we finished the box.
It's good, fresh, and I had no hassles buying it. Is it the best in town? No, but I Will go back again.
