  1. This place is always very crowded but they have the best chicken and beef patties with coco bread. I love them for a quick snack while I'm at one odd my boyfriend's basketball games close by. I would love to try their roti and other options! When I do, I'll update this review

  2. Guyanese and Jamaican in one spot? Now we are talking.

They do have a lot of baked good but also have full meals.

I went with a Guyanese beef pattie to get my lips and appetite wet. These were great and I could have had a few more. I did stop at one and had the Jerk Chicken with Spinach Rice as the main dish. Both were tasty and had a nice kick.

Lines can get long, so be prepared to wait and get a number.

  3. Seen so much raving reviews & was heavily recommended to come here for lunch. Wasn't much impressed. I got an oxtail meal with rice & peas and I wish I didn't. I've had much better from other West Indian restaurants. Maybe it was an off day? Idk. Probably will give it another chance in the future because I am curious about trying the pastries.

  4. I like Guyanese curry which I find spicier than Trinidadian. This is the first time the curry sauce had a noticeably oily layer but it was still good. When ordering be sure to ask for more MEAT than potatoes as you'd likely get two pieces and one could be a boney chicken back!

  5. I was helping a good friend by taking her to pick up her family members at JFK airport early one Saturday morning. After picking them up, my friend announced "Who wants Jamaican food?"  "Bruce I'm sure you would like to have some Oxtail stew" I told her that I love oxtails but where can you find them at 8 o'clock am? She informed me that not only is this restaurant open, it has the best oxtails ever.
So she directed me to Sybil's on Liberty ave in Jamaica Queens.
Sybil's bakery is in a large, colorful building that is highly visible in the community. Most of us waited in my car until she came back with a big bag of sweet smelling Jamaican & Guyanese food. At 8 am. So at 8 am inside my car and I was munching on some of the best food, tender oxtails, peas & rice and some veggies.
Afterwards, I wanted to take a nap but we drove back to Philly instead and I was thinking about Sybil's and when I can return and go deep into their menu.

  6. ALWAYS a long line but you know why, because everything is DELICIOUS.

This is one of the cleanest west Indian places, they offer a wide variety of food, pastries, bread and natural drinks.

When they aren't busy and you get to talking to with the staff you find out how nice they are. They are aways willing to help and they have good quick service.

Their patties, fish and roti is very well prepared and tasty.

Their prices are that like all of the surrounding west Indian places. They carry fresh and bottled coconut water which is something I enjoy.

The only downside is parking. It's a very busy location and the streets are always packed, most people have to double park but it is well worth the hassle.

  7. Great food but pricey. Always crowded but that's for a reason. Simply because it's good food. My only issue is that thy need better size options that allows you to control how much you want to spend.

  8. Mmmm good stuff! The Pepper Pot was the highlight here.. Gooey, very flavorful, and way more than you can eat at once.. Pick up the Salara! Think jelly roll, or poppy bread, but with red coconut as a filling.. If you have 'coconut fiends' living with you, but two!!
As Ahhr-nold said, "I'll be back!!"
