The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because I felt that 2 out of 3 dishes had a bit too much sauce.
The chicken and broccoli lunch special was good. The sesame chicken was good but a bit much sauce. The diced chicken w/cashews was good but also a bit much sauce.
The portions are great for a $6 lunch special. The delivery was super fast.
Overall, I do recommend it and I will order from there again.
Update: I ordered from them a couple more times since my last review. I'm obsessed with their spring rolls. That's all.
Cash only, delivery/ take out place only.
Insanely fast. Scary fast. Like wtf fast. I walked in, ordered, glanced at my phone for a minute, food's done. Ya'll have one of those star trek replicators hiding in that wok?
Ordered the kung pao chicken. Good size portion of chicken, flavor is pretty good. I would probably order it again. Main issue is, I like spicy chinese food: name of the place has Szechuan in it. I associate that with spiciness and kung pao should be el fuego. No spicy red peppers. It's like a few bucks for a big ol bag of em in chinatown. Go get some. I'm assuming they don't use szechuan peppercorns in any of their dishes either.
Anyways, if you can incorporate a hotter version, I'd definitely bump you up a star and probably order this ALL the time. (Go get dem peppers! seriously. Maybe I'll even buy them for you)
Not sure how this place averages 4 stars…
Came here today (a Sunday afternoon) and ordered some take out sesame chicken. The price was okay for the portion as I was given the lunchtime pricing ($6).
The taste was super salty with just a hint of sweet which isn't traditionally what I experienced as sesame chicken. There was way too much sauce on the chicken which was very bad quality dark meat chicken.
The saving grace was that the portion was very well distributed (not too much rice and plenty of chicken and broccoli). The staff was also super friendly.
I wouldn't recommend ordering from here too often but if you're stuck in a bind with needing a quick bite, this should suffice.
I'm going to make this short and sweet: the spring rolls here are the biggest and best I've ever had!
Small takeout place in UES.
Food quality is acceptable for UES. Generally on the heavier side (greasy and salty) but not too spicy. Good serving portion. Price is expected UES price. Little wait time.
A little disappointed as it dose not have the typical Szechuan food I had in mind.
This place is gross and I knew it from the start. But Pete was starving and, against my better judgement, I "let" him stop here to get two soups and an order of Szechuan dumplings. Came to $12.50
THEY ARE A CHINESE RESTAURANT THAT DOESN'T SERVE EGG DROP SOUP. WTF?
So we were relegated to wonton and hot and sour. Wonton – bland. Hot and sour – cloyingly salty. Yeah, I know it's Chinese food. I know it's supposed to be salty. Not like this though.
Szechuan dumplings were OK! Peanut-y but not spicy. Asked for house mustard, which they do not have – only packets. What kind of place is this?
I was told that this place has the best chinese food in the UES so I gave it a try. I RARELY order food and RARELY get chinese food but because this places is apparently one of the best, I picked up the phone and got these for delivery. I was told I MUST get the Chef's Beef Special and Pork Fried Rice, we shared these and also added the Diced chicken with peanuts for our order. This place didn't have a menu and/or website link on Yelp so I made the extra effort to google the menu instead of looking up somewhere else. We ordered around noon on a Sunday and we got our food in 15 minutes- super quick!!
I'll be honest. i don't like Chinese/Szechuan food and never order fried rice for myself. I'll just say.. the pork fried rice was SO GOOD. (It's' the perfect hangover greasy food too). There was something about this that was very addicting. My friend and I couldn't stop eating it. Everything, the rice and diced veges, even including the rice, were "soft". I don't know if it's because of the oil that made it seem soft but it was absolutely great. I would definitely just get this too. The Chef's Beef Special was salty and the Diced chicken with peanuts was even saltier but it had lots of meat and peanuts for the latter one. It was a pretty good combo with the fried rice.
They forgot to give us utensils and napkins so that was a bum but other than that our take out Szechuan was great 🙂 We paid $33 for these 3-so probably not the cheapest chinese takeout/delivery (I think..) but definitely worth it. It's a lot of food too, -us two girls finished half of everything.
