Welcome to Taco Lana Del Rey De Rita Ora. What a fantastic pop star taco truck this is. You can get Pop Tarts, Pop Corn, and Popped Cherries. Those are a new kind of candy that are really, really big amongst West Virginia teens. Just kidding, I love West Virginia teens. No, no, not in that way. I do love West Virginia though. And they're the best at baking, did you know. I'm not sure what it is that they put in bread, but it makes it taste amazing. 🙂
What to get: Chicken Tacos
What not to get: Herpes
What else not to get: Any STD for that matter
Why not: If you have to ask, there's no point me explaining. Just get some tacos
I asked to see the guy's face, the guy who was cooking my pollo. He refused to take off "The Mask Of Oro."
I've been to this food truck twice now, both times late at night, and both times I absolutely loved it. I've been to El Vagabundo, Guadalajara De Noche, Tri Tacos, and here, and all four were five star spots. None absolutely blew me away, but I did love all four.
Did you know that the Rey from Taco Rey is the same Rey that owns all the Rey's Pizza places in Manhattan?
At this particular spot, I asked the guy working here (in my broken Spanglish) which tacos he recommended. He insisted on the chicken. I usually never get chicken tacos. I'm into asada, pastor, chorizo, carnitas, you name it. But since he was so certain, I went with the pollo and I was delighted. So juicy and flavourful and tasty. They weren't too expensive and were extremely authentic.
The woman from the Matrix works here by the way. The all-knowing one. They call her the Oro-cle.
The chicken tasted a lot like the tacos I recently got from Lorenzo's way up in Albion, NY. Which by the way is a very good thing. I will definitely be back for more tacos. I love going down (to Queens) and eating tacos (especially wet juicy ones like these).
Now eat some of them. Oro the taco gets it.
3.5 stars. I am rounding up on the rating because I am a big food truck supporter. I really want to love this truck. It is so conveniently placed by the 7 train to greet me just as I am getting home from drinking…. I ate here a few times when I was still eating meat and most (not all) of what I had was pretty damn good. The chicken tacos were excellent. Now that I don't eat meat, I order their vegetarian tacos and they just fail to satisfy. It's just lettuce, tomato and crema. How about some rice and beans or something? I need some substance, especially since it costs the same as the meat tacos. That's my only gripe, I wish they'd work on that as I'd love to give them more business. If you are a meat eater, you're good, this is a great spot for you. The prices are great here, the folks are nice enough and they're open late night.
Oh Taco Truck, you've always been there for me when I am tired and hungry. Right off the train, they always have the best tacos. Packed with meat and flavor and cheaper than the truck on 61st Street. I never have to wait long at all. Plus you can run up to the Rite Aid for a soda while you wait.
Praise up to the hard working ladies of Taco Rey de Oro! I see one or two reviews on here criticizing the lack of English spoken at this truck. I reject these criticisms wholeheartedly. First of all, this is a Mexican food truck in a Latin@ neighborhood of Queens– why are you even hanging out here if a little Spanish is gonna bug you so bad? Furthermore, I have many times given up on my terrible Spanish and just ordered in English here and the fact is, they do understand English. As long as you can say to them the names of the menu items, you can pretty much conduct the rest of your business in English or gestures.
I've only had great meats here. The suadero is tender and flavorful, the lengua has the funk, snap and crunch that gets us to pursue tongue instead of tamer meats. Do not ignore the spicy chicken just because it is chicken– it has a ton of great chili flavor.
I haven't tried the tortas but I do hear good things. There is a little bit of a wait at this truck but they're cooking a lot of the meat fresh for you so don't whine about it– it's a feature not a bug.
These are best-in-neighborhood tacos and deserve a lot of praise. Look for the truck right underneath the 51st stop on the 7 train. I got hungry while writing this review and thinking about their tacos.
I've passed by this truck numerous times and just haven't had the urge to try it. Well, yesterday I wanted something cheap and convenient. I chose the mixto, pastor, and carnitas tacos to go. Got home half hour later they were still warm and the tortillas did not fall apart. I gotta keep it real and let u know I didn't know which was which. I could only say they were all good. Had good flavor which sometimes these trucks lack. The salsa verde was awesome. I have a minor complaint that the tortilla was just a hair stale. Maybe could've heated up a little more to soften. Otherwise good spot for tacos. Will try the beef tongue next time.
This taco truck is stationed outside the 52nd St – Lincoln Ave stop on the 7 train. I've tried the roast pork, spicy pork, chorizo and steak tacos, but my favorite here is the spicy pork. The steak tacos seem to run out by the end of the night. The price for steak tacos are $3 each, whereas the pork tacos are $2.50 each. The tacos here are decent, but not as good as the taco cart located outside the 74th Street – Roosevelt Ave stop. The tacos there come with guacamole (liquid form).
I LOVE THIS TACO TRUCK – this may offer my favorite tacos in NY – the al pastor – omg. I always try to get my boyfriend to drive out for these tacos – they are very filling, and are $2.50 a pop. They are totally worth the drive. Now these are some fresh authentic tacos.
Late night, homemade and authentic. The food is quality and inexpensive. That will always get a yes from me and this truck is parked right off the 52nd St stop on the 7 train so it's really hard to say no.
The women running the truck are really nice. You have to wait a little bit for your food, maybe 10 minutes or so, but you know it's fresh and made to order.
This place rules. Just get it. I always feel good about supporting this truck. Good food, good people, good deal, what's not to like?
