Tacombi Nolita – Fonda Nolita
“Corn esquites ( I could have eaten 10 servings ) and the crispy fish tacos.”
“I loved the atmosphere with the tacos being made in an old VW van and the string lights across the ceiling.”
“After the sangria, the chips and guac, and the corn esquites (a must try) I shoulda ordered two tacos but went for the three.”

The ambiance was okay but the food was so terrible!!!! Stale chips and flavorless, dry tacos. The fried fish taco was all batter, and the swordfish taco came with inedible pickled vegetables. I was really disappointed that my first visit to this location will likely be my last.
Really cool space with authentic cuisine. I had the famous corn taco but the real showstopper for me was the pollo quesadilla.
Anything that comes remotely close to making me question my decades-long-held monogamous commitment to my bottom chick (Taco Bell's chicken quesadilla as if you DIDN'T already know) is doing something absolutely very much right. Also the drinks were on point.
Go here.
Such a cute restaurant! The decor was great! This is the type of place you would find all over Instagram.
I found out about this location after trying Tacombi for the first time out in Montauk Point.
I love the fish tacos here! I ordered the hibiscus tea as well but it was kind of bland, but I guess it was meant to be refreshing perhaps?
They're a bit pricey though and dishes are small, but all in all they're really good!
I love tacombi. Lately it's just been beyond busy at this place, so be prepared to wait a little bit.
Who doesn't love tacos. I don't think they make their own taco shells. But I still love their tacos though. I like that they double up the the shell. Then I can split my taco into two which is wayyy easier to eat than shoveling the taco into my mouth.
I also really dig their hibiscus drink and their corn.
The ambiance is great, I love the decor of the place from the small little taco bus, to the high ceilings. It's makes it easier to actually chat with your friends. This place is very reasonably priced for NYC.
Tacombi has 3 locations in Manhattan, & I totally recommend all of them!
I like the Nolita location–this one–, very much especially since it makes me feel like I am AWAY ON VACATION. Yep, INSTANT VACATION, right here! No air fare necessary.
Now, that I have had the pleasure of enjoying Tacombi food from all 3 locations–I can tell you, IMHO (in my humble opinion) I LOVE ALL 3 locations!!!
Consistantly, fresh & delicious FOOD! -GREAT!
The Service-ALSO GREAT IN ALL 3 LOCATIONS!
ALL 3 TACOMBI LOCATIONS HAVE GREAT FOOD & DRINK.
I finally tried one of the special, fruit beverages–no alcohol, & made fresh. My friend & I enjoyed the pineapple, ginger, mmm, not sure if there was cilantro, which I love, or not, & I'm forgetting another ingredient, perhaps cucumber–sorry, can't recall, but, I can tell you it was a delicious, healthy drink & I'll be enjoying it again soon.
Altho the Elizabeth Street /Nolita location didn't have the vegan taco–the yummy, tasty, sweet potato & black bean taco, the others we ordered were quite tasty & delicious. These are small size, but big on flavor, so definitely order a few!! Really, they are all yummy good. Pork, beef, fish.
I am also wild about the ESQUITES–OMG, A MUST!! Comfort food in a cup–warm, buttered, fresh, corn kernels, Mexican cheese (begins w/C) & some light spice equals heavenly deliciousness–try a cup!!
Enjoy!!
I'll post photos.
Great atmosphere. Friendly staff.
The setting does look Mexican, although I've never eaten in a local Mexican place, this place seems like it would replicate that well.
I liked the VW vanagon in the middle that was remade as a food prep area.
Also, they have a sink just for washing hands, bonus!
The tacos are ok, above par, but just ok. I'd go back more for the social setting than the food though.
I'd go back again.
Yummy yummy!!! I have a big soft spot for Mexican food and they do it great!! The ambiance really makes you feel like you are at a Mexican shack eating some tacos and drinking margaritas. Even the bathrooms have authentic bucket like sinks. The happy hour special was great and ended around 7! We got there close to 6 and sat right away for a table of 6… As we left close to 830 it was getting crowded. I enjoyed the chicken quesadilla and some pollo tacos. Most people recommend 3 picks for dinner, I have a small appetite and was great with 2. I would defiantly go back!
I LOVE FISH TACOS…and this place makes them better than anywhere else. Their food comes out quickly & is always SO fresh! I love this place. Everyone I bring here can't stop snapping pics of the decor & food.
Atmosphere is great & the high ceilings make this place much roomier than usual. I got my order to go & it took a total of about 5 minutes for the (adorably wrapped) food to come. It was still hot when I brought it back to my office after walking 10 minutes.
Come for lunch, dinner or a drink. You won't be disappointed!
