As a Californian longing for some decent Mexican food on the East Coast, Tacos Morelos seems to do the trick. This 4 table restaurant with one of the tiniest kitchen's I have seen, arguably makes some of the best Mexican food in the city. This goes to show you that a small establishment can have a lot of heart and soul. I ordered the steak taco and the spicy chicken quesadilla. The spicy chicken quesadilla was quite large for $4.99 and was delicious. I really don't think I have had a better quesadilla in the city in a long time. However, the steak taco was a little bland and I would probably not order this again, as it lacked flavor.
I would definitely come back here just to have the quesadilla again.
Also, they serve breakfast burrittos!!! I will definitely be back here for breakfast!
This place is a solid version of the truck. Not only is the food great, but there's bonus points for being able to make excellent tacos both truck side and in their brick and mortar spot. Plus, having beers and the Mexican sodas were just icing on the cake. Their food is SO worth it so check it out, y'all!! The tacos are king, but I'm also a fan of their tortas. Yes, I think that may be an absolute first for me. I have finally found a delicious torta. A great meal was has both dine-in and delivery!
Tiny little hole in the wall place for Mexican food. The food was great, but the service and cleanliness was certainly lacking.
We come in first of all, the tiny space is incredibly loud and dirty. There seems to be a layer of oil and dirt over everything. Secondly, apparently the only language anyone knows how to speak is Spanish.
The tacos were extremely good. But while we are, a rat came up to our table and started eating the crumbs.
My go-to cheap Mex place in the EV. Never ate in restaurant, but takeout has been bliss. The Tacos Morelos food truck/box is still in Alphabet City, but there always seems to be a long line at prime time hours, so this is a welcome relief from the waiting game as you starve for tacos.
Service is crazy fast. Prices are really fair. And the food is great.
The nachos are insanely good whether it be the Texas (beef); chicken; pork, or shrimp.
The best Cemitas since I was in Mexico. The tacos taste fresh because the ingredients are not overly cooked or sauced. They keep the tacos simple. And the burritos are gigantic.
The value for great food is incredible. Most other comparable choices in the EV never deliver on the price. It's a welcome surprise that Tacos Morelos does.
I love their truck and I almost wouldn't even bother trying their restaurant since the food truck is more convenient for me. However, if you're calling for delivery this is where you call. And I'm so glad that's the case. Otherwise I wouldn't have gotten to try their homemade tortilla. Or the cochinita pibil which is amazing! Their homemade tortilla is so good! Definitely better than the tortilla at Nixtamal. And they deliver quickly so your food is still warm and the tortilla doesn't even get soggy before it gets to you. I'm so happy they are close to my job!
