I don't normally eat much Mexican food but the bf's family wanted to order it. So I figured I would just pick at whatever they ordered. The bf ordered a few dishes, all I remember is that two were chicken and one was steak. The two chicken dishes were very spicy. They came with rice (which was delicious but mouth burning). The steak was the least spicy of everything and my clear favorite.
We also ordered the large Horchata which was awesome until we got to the bottom of it and it was a bit gritty. Overall, everything was great and I hope we order from here again!
As I was eating in another place one of the servers had a big tray of this guacamole that looked so good. And this place I know does not make guacamole.
I asked her where she got it and Tijuana was the word! So off I was too Tijuana place was practically empty but I had one thing on my mind guacamole.
The guacamole here was quite delish, smooth with chunks scattered about. The jalapeno pepper heat was minimal but present, as was cilantro which was also floating around each bite… Mmmmm was quite the treat. If not for this my rating would be much lower.
The burrito was not the best, it was a mini football. Too big very little carne asada – too much rice and filling in a over sized tortilla.
Service was friendly but it would help if you had some espanol in your vocabulary!
I would return for more but would most surely pass on the burrito and try something different.
On 5th Avenue, there's tons of Mexican restaurants, but we decided to opt for Tacos Tijuana. And truthfully, it was a good choice for me, but it may not be for a lot of people. Upon entering, it's very dimly lit and there are only a few people there but atmosphere isn't a big deal for me since we did take out. We did 3 tacos for 7.50, a dollar more if you're not doing all 3 with the same meat. The carnitas are not like the Chipotle carnitas, they are actually kind of dry, but loaded with meat and cilantro and onions. The limes are fresh and have a lot of juice and a ton of radish slices are included. If you're not a fan of dry carnitas, I would not recommend it, but for the price I think its absolutely worth it.
