Great food – had a falafel salad (it was a special that had the medium-spicy falafel option). Fresh Jerusalem salad with Romaine lettuce, and a tahini-based dressing made for a complete gem…hope they keep it on the menu cause everyone was rockin it! Price is pretty standard – about $11 for the salad, but some menu items are more ($5 fries?!). Nice staff here, friendly vibes. Be forewarned that it's a tiny place and people will bump into you constantly if you're sitting down. But the food is totally worth it for that pain – I'm sure the falafel sandwiches are just as good as the salad. Looking forward to coming back more and more, since it's right around the corner from the best jazz club in the city (Village Vanguard). Enjoy!
Hearing that Taim had some of the city's best falafel, I decided to stop in.
Taim's small. Like no bathroom, no dining area small. There are a few counter seats circling the front window but the day I came all of these were occupied so I took my order to go.
Choosing the mixed falafel platter, which comes with three of each flavor (1. parsley, cilantro and mint 2. Tunisian spice 3. roasted red peppers) plus hummus, Israel salad and pita bread.
Each falafel was excellent! I couldn't decided on a clear favorite. The salad and hummus were fresh and filling sides.
Wish I could of snagged a seat inside but eating outside on the sidewalk did little to diminish the enjoyment I experienced eating Taim's delicious Mediterranean fare.
I ordered the falafel platter with a lemon mint and pear smoothie. The dish was big enough to serve two people. Very generous portions. The store itself is really small but I definitely recommend you eating in instead of take out if you have the chance because the presentation of the food is top notch when you eat in. Very good Mediterranean food that will not cost you an arm and a leg. The best part? If you don't like the side options you can change it. I loved the Israeli salad with the eggplant option in my platter. Great eats.
We have regularly frequented this establishment when in the area. Extremely cozy and delicious. Very affordable and the staff is great. Sometimes it takes a while to get a seat if your dining in but if you want take out this is a great option. Love their falafel sandwiches.
NOTE: I got food from the Taim truck, not the restaurant itself. The truck was out in front of Civic Hall (a shared work area in Flatiron).
Pretty good, though, I think, a bit overrated. The toasted pita was just okay, although I appreciated it being seasoned, and the hummus was above-average but not exceptional. The falafel was overly spiced, oily, and a bit dry on the inside.
There were definitely some communication issues: a colleague's order was forgotten, and I got a falafel plate instead of the Mediterranean platter that I had ordered. Still, the orders came out pretty quickly, so that was good.
Super small place but its food is packed with flavor. I got the falafel sandwich (with spicy falafel) here. The pita was very soft and the falafel was smashed up perfectly inside — resulting a crunchy/soft texture that just kept me biting for more and more. This location is more of a grab and go, but there is a counter inside that you can sit at and people watch while enjoying your filling meal. The food was perfectly portioned and not greasy at all — it tasted super clean and left me satisfied for hours. I was surprised at the quality (also the sandwich was very affordable at around $8 or so) given that the space is so grab and go.
Overall, great place, great location and impeccable flavor and texture — will come back!
Love this place! Super small and casual but really excellent food.
Sabich sandwich is made with grilled eggplant – packed with flavor and definitely filling!
Falafel is moist and perfectly fried. We got the harissa flavor which was spicy and had a lot of crunch.
Love the sauces they give. Especially the creamy aioli one – goes perfectly with the falafel and fries.
The platters are huge!! You get a ton of hummus (or whatever spread you choose). Definitely way more than enough for the piece of pita they give you.
Also had a banana date lime smoothie – super unique and super delicious. I totally get the hype! Definitely recommend ordering if you still have room 🙂
You've never had falafel like this before! I loved every ingredient that was stuffed into my sandwich. Such a standout in the field. Taim is very small, you may be able to get 6 people in there and that's the only real shortcoming that I saw. I can understand why this place packs a line outside. I was actually going to skip going here tonight but I'm so glad that I came back later. I feel that my falafel mission on this earth has been completed. You will too. Certainly calling this one a winner!
