Taipan Fusion Restaurant and Hookah Lounge
“Food wise you must try the drums of heaven, spring rolls and pad Thai (chicken and shrimp).”
“I'm Muslim so the halal food is a plus for me as there very few hookah lounges with halal food being served.”
“They also don't serve alcohol if you're going for some drinks but they allow you to bring your own (& there is a liquor store next door)”

A fusion of Asian food with an Indian touch. The place is trendy, hip, and well decorated, a definitely upscale look for the surrounding area. The crowd has been decent even on weekdays, so their customer satisfaction seems still seems high…
Having been there several times, their food has been consistently good. The recommended dishes that my friends and I have enjoyed includes their soups, chicken pad thai, chili lamb, lamb szechwan, and their Pad King Sod Chicken…..
This place has so many different types of food, I get somewhat confused looking at the menu. I ordered Tom yum soup – small, a suspicious red color (unnatural), and tasted like they only put sour base with a little bit of vegetables. I gave two stars because a co-worker ordered sesame chicken which was apparently not terrible. The long delivery wait + delivery fee don't help this situation, so I probably won't order from here again.
As a person who usually eats various types of Asian foods regularly, I've got to say this was probably one if the worst places I've been to in a while. My friends decided to try this place because our parents came from Taiwan and thought a place with that name would do Asian cuisine justice.
However, the pad thai was bland. It was just noodles and peanuts on the side with no other vegetables. The pineapple fried rice was so bad, I had to RETURN it. This was the first time I have ever done such thing. It was literally a small bowl of white rice with a few pieces of pineapple. It was not fried nor have ANY flavor whatsoever. You would have a better time microwaving rice at home and putting canned pineapple over it. On top of that it was priced at $12??? You can get a decent appetizer in the city for that price and it'd still be a bigger portion and taste amazing.
When my friends paid for the bill, they asked to split it between two credit cards. They couldn't even do that!! Overall a bad dining experience.
This is a new Thai/Chinese restaurant that used to be an Indian restaurant before. They changed the whole place and the decor looks really nice. Kinda has a lounge feel to it.
The lollipop chicken was spicy, but very good! It wasn't the typical dry lollipop chicken that's served in other Thai fusion restaurants. It had a lot of sauce added to it. Also tried some kind of jumbo shrimp which was also pretty good.
Unfortunately, the entres weren't as good. They weren't terrible either I guess. I tried the red curry chicken and also the basil chicken and they both tasted very similar. You barely tasted the coconut in the red curry chicken.
The Thai iced-tea was just ok. It wasn't sweet enough.
I might go back to this place if I'm in the mood for Thai food, but only because it's not expensive.
PS- The food is Halal here.
Ok so I read the reviews AFTER we sat down, (I'm not sure why) but anyhow we decided to stay. I was a bit scared after reading the reviews but it turned out not bad at all. The waiter was really nice and attentive. The food was ok, I actually expected worse. I'm not into spicy food so everything seemed fine to me lol
I've been here plenty of times but this review is on the Hookah lounge, not the restaurant. Their hookah is good some days and terrible other days. It's just an averaged place with average service. Its kind of dark in the basement with low ceilings so tall people be careful. Their mango shake is pretty good and soothing with hookah. I think this place really could have been done better tho.
