food: known for their green tea items, but i didnt see anything that caught my eye. i ended up with a croissant. my friends did order some green tea pastries. they enjoyed it. i liked what they had, but i wasnt trying to sneak extra bites in between. ***3/5
service: i like the space a lot. modern, but a hint of japanese. you choose what you want from the counters and you pay at front. ***4/5
value: it doesnt taste any different from other pastry shops. nothing unique. it tastes fine as it is, but nothing to make a trip for. ***3/5
Greentea crepes !!!! I just cant have enough of them…
My coworker stumbled upon this place after doing some work in the area and we decided to grab a snack. I knew this place had good reviews so we decided to check it out. I got a hot tea and a matcha crepe. I also got a baked good…some type of bread to eat later. My coworker and I also shared a raspberry cake. The matcha crepe was very good on the outside, but there was too much cream on the inside for my liking. It was a little overpowering. It was also very cold and that made the texture a little hard. Would have been better a room temperature. It was also a very big crepe, definitely a hefty snack. The raspberry cake was a good contrast to the creaminess of the crepe because it was tart and cut through the crepe. I saw a lot of other baked goods that I would have loved to try so I'll definitely be back!
The staff was rather dismissive and I didn't appreciate their demeanor. If you cannot handle customers with one register then open another one. Nobody likes to feel rushed, especially when the customer is dropping close to $50 for the stuff that's been chilling in your shop for the entire day AKA leftovers. And for the record, the iced peach green tea was super watery and barely had any notes of peach nor green tea. WTF did I just pay $4 for?!
Very interesting offerings! My friends and I got a plethora of items — I got a ginger chicken sandwich and tried the matcha crepe and mochi au pan. The ginger chicken was affordable at about $6 and super flavorful and filling. The only weird flavor was the American cheese in the sandwich but other than that it was very good. The box that the sandwich came in was bamboo ans I totally fangirled over the sustainability and reusability of it! (keeping it!!)
I enjoyed the mochi and matcha deserts. The matcha crepe actually reminded me of the flavor and texture of the matches latte foam! A like bit to sweet for Me though. I really liked the subtle flavors of the mochi au pan — the red bean was perfectly sweetened! I would pair it w a milky coffee.
In all, very interesting concept and I was pleasantly surprised. Would come back to get a matcha latte and something sweet .(3.5/5)
Nice little bakery with many delicious options. Takahachi's cakes are prodominently the creamy sort. Soft and mousse like, you'll find flavors varying from chestnut to green tea.
The well known green tea (matcha) crepe is a must try. Thin layer crepe shell with cream and red bean filling. The green powder on the outside of the crepe will end up powdering your lips green. The soft build also makes it a bit messy to finish as you remove the wrapper. Neither the less, it was delicious and excellent when chilled a little bit.
I've also ordred their Marron Mousse Cake for a birthday celebration. The chestnut flavor was present in the cake with a lot of soft creamy mousse. Order ahead of time and they'll ask for a credit card to place the order, but you'll be charged/pay on the day of pick up.
They have many different bread flavors and a loaf schedule. (see picture)
Really lovely pastries can be found here. I'm a big fan of their green tea crepes. Prices are a little bit on the higher end, but the food here is well made and very authentic. I like how you can see all of the bakers hard at work in the kitchen, via a large window.
Not a bad place to come and do work at also. For the area, you're not gonna find a better Japanese bakery.
Very cute Japanese bakery. We could use one of these in Little Tokyo in LA.
So many different desserts and pastries mixed with those Japanese flavors.
The workers are very friendly. Great vibe and atmosphere.
Kyoto Matcha Mousse – $5.95 – Very light and silky moose with that delicate matcha flavor. It was perfectly sweet.
Awesome place to grab a dessert!
