  1. ACTUAL RATING:  0 stars

Worst delivery experience ever — delivery person never came and called me every few minutes indiscernible ranting/ babble. When I called the restaurant, they did nothing to accommodate my order and I never got my food.

NYC is the delivery food capital of the world, if you can't hire competent delivery people, don't get on Seamless.

  2. Really awful place to eat…the worst Japanese restaurant I've been to so far. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura lunch box. Not only the portion is small, but also the taste is unacceptable. Some of the vegetable tempuras are actually leftovers because you can tell from the color and the texture.

    Not recommended AT ALL.

  3. I think not…..

I'm normally not a picky person when it comes to raw fish (though I probably should be..) but something was just off about the sashimi I had. It's not that it was bad, but it wasn't good either. It almost reminded me of 2-day-old pre-packaged sushi you would buy at a supermarket.

I only ordered from this place because

    1. It's close to work
    2. I was craving sushi
    3. I had a Seamless coupon

If you want good sushi in this area, check out my review for Nippori.

  4. I work around this area for almost 4 years now and I never knew this place exist. Not a hard place to find but you'll need to pay attention to the signs. It's located on the second floor next to Lenny's. Place is decent, not too big nor too small. Roughly about 11 seatings at most. I ordered 2 spicy tuna rolls with brown rice, a passion roll with regular rice, and a gyoza which I asked for fried but it came out steamed.  My passion roll tasted good and as for my spicy tuna roll well… it wasn't spicy nor had any taste.

  5. When I order sushi here, I know it won't be particularly good but it'll still be more reasonably priced than those restaurants around it. Located on the second floor, it's less conspicuous so knowing about this place puts you ahead of the people waiting hours during lunch rush at the other sushi restaurants around the area. The food is passable if you're craving sushi. In all truthfulness, you could really do a lot worse.

  6. My coworker and I have been here several times for lunch. There is usually not an issue to get seating even on the crowded days. I usually go for the Bento box which is $10. Comes with your choice of a teriyaki dish, soup, salad, 3 rolls, and 2 dumplings. It's a pretty good deal and you are satisfied at the end. This place on a permanent fixture in my lunch rotation.

  7. I don't get why the reviews are bad for this place. The service is quick, the food is great, and the prices are more than fair. $13 gets me 3 rolls of sushi with a soup and a salad, and free hot green tea. Go here during work quite a bit, and really enjoy it.

Aside from the 3 rolls lunch special, I've also gotten the sushi & sashimi lunch combo, which gets you 9 pieces of sashimi and 4 pieces of sushi with a california roll (and soup and salad) for $17. I have yet to have something I didn't like, and I come here quite a lot.

  8. Taki Sushi has a special place in my heart due to all the bonding experiences I have had with both colleagues and friends at this place. Due to its convenient location two blocks away from our 30 Rock office, we have frequented it multiple times for both lunch and dinner. I'm quite surprised to see the bad reviews and low ratings because I've never had a bad experience.

The lunch specials (2 rolls for $9.95 and 3 rolls for $12.95) are such a steal and come with miso soup and salad. Their salad dressing is very interesting. It is not at all mayonnaise heavy like the creamy miso stuff served at Japanese restaurants; rather, it tastes like a freshly pureed combination of ginger, onion, vinegar and other spices. I'm quite a fan of it.

One oddity – sometimes they charged us extra $ for a side of spicy mayo and other times they didn't. You many want to pay closer attention to your check for any inconsistencies.
