Start pay attentions to what people ordered and who ordered it. They completely forgot about my order, ignored my request to look into it, and then gave me a dirty look when I reminded them again that I still haven't received my order as if I am lying to them. Seriously????
Never coming to this place ever again
Boycott places like this who lack customer service mindset.
Small place, not that nice, the people behind the counter aren't that nice either.
The other locations have so many more options. Aka they don't have flat pumpernickle bagels (only on 86th location). Not worth it, better options exist elsewhere.
Really solid bagles here, they did give me the wrong cream chesse but over all solid everyintg.
It happened. I had a bad bagel in New York. Here I was, running around believing that all bagels in New York were equally delicious. Oh how I was wrong.
I got an everything bagel and cream cheese. NYC standard right? No. Oh no. The bagel was overly salty to the point where I didn't even want to finish my breakfast.
The service? Okay, it's eight am. Please give me one moment to debate what kind of cream cheese I want. Oh there's a credit card minimum? Give me a quick second to decide what kind of drink to get. The rude rushing and eye rolling was really offsetting for my day.
I just wouldn't do it. There are other places in New York that you might have to trek to but they are way more worth it.
Tough reviews I see for Tal. I'm only basing this off one time I got a bagel here. I ordered an everything bagel with sausage egg and cheese. This was by far better than any bagel in the neighborhood. This bad boy was loaded with sausage egg and cheese and the flavors reminded me of back home in New Jersey who still have the best. This is my new bagel place says my girlfriend. Usually I have to agree so she doesn't hurt me but this time I agree because these bagels are that good.
I grew up eating these bagels. I'd walk from my Grandparent's place on Sutton Place here with my brother and father and eat the bagels on the way back. My favorite bagels in the world.
Crowded. The bagel sandwiches were decent, but $16 for two bagels, two coffees (a la deli coffee or cart guy coffee) and two rugelach? Eau contraire.
This is why Ess-a couldn't stay here. These folks are obviously getting gouged for rent, so they're gouging us. There are also a million people working behind the counter and none of them seems to really know what's going on.
Meh.
My prediction is the crowds will diminish once Ess-a opens their new digs across the street. As it should be.
Love this place for early morning bagels, I've been to a few on this same block near Stuytown and Tal is definitely my favorite! The prices are fair and I've never been hassled for trying to use a credit card which is nice. Great selection of cream cheese and a lovely display. I've enjoyed the bacon/egg/cheese combo on a bagel which was well made and evenly dispersed, and I've heard good things about their sausage/egg/cheese. I come to this spot every time I can't resist my bagel cravings!! Super friendly staff as well.
