Very nice sushi spot.
I ordered delivery from Tani and was satisfied with a quick turnaround time. Sushi was fresh and well made and a good value for the price. The reviews say that it's nice inside the restaurant as well so I'll definitely be heading there in the future.
I ordered takeout from here. I got the Tiger Tail Roll with brown rice (which is spicy crabmeat on the inside with avocado and salmon on the outside) which was fantastic. A nice hearty portion and super fresh. I also ordered an Alaska roll with brown rice which was also great. I enjoyed their seaweed salad too. I would definitely come back – very tasty! A little pricey, but most sushi places are.
Had dinner at Tani for probably the 12th time last night and I honestly think they're slipping. Don't get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with dinner, per se but in the past it's been better.
Where they seem to totally drop the ball is service. Our waiter barely spoke any English at all. Years ago, comic genius Bobby Slayton had a routine where he said that waiters in Chinese restaurants basically agree with everything you ask. Does the dish have vegetables? Yes, vegetables…Does it have crayons? Yes has vegetables, crayons…..I felt the same way last night. My son asked him to explain how the Wings of Asiana are prepared. The waiter had no idea what he was asking and the dish turned out not to be what he had in mind. Not earth shattering but it was annoying.
I have nothing against people who don't speak our language. Everyone has to learn at some point. But I refuse to believe that the local labor pool has gotten so sparse that they couldn't find anyone with at least a rudimentary understanding. In my opinion, that's an epic fail and cost them a star maybe a star & 1/2. Oh well…..
Instant fan! My friends posted photos from here several months ago and ever since seeing their photos I just knew I had to go and try it for myself. This Pan-Asian restaurant is quite good. I ordered Miso Soup that was warm and comforting. I couldn't wait for dim sum so I ordered the dim sum platter. It was the perfect size for lunch and offered insight into their dim sum. It was good but not the best I've had in the area. I then tried the Lobster Special Roll and boy was it… special I mean. It's been about 5 days and I'm still drooling over the taste and presentation of this roll. It consists of Tempura lobster tail, avocado, mango, cucumber and asparagus. It is drizzled with eel sauce or "special" sauce that made the roll that much better. I'm glad we only went for lunch because if I went for dinner I would have ordered about a dozen other dishes that looked amazing as well. My friend ordered the hot and sour soup and said it was very good. She experienced my dim sum and I experienced her roll. She ordered a spicy tuna tempura roll. That was great too. I love that I can come her with my family and there is something everyone can like. My dad would love the Classic Chinese dishes, my son would love the noodle dishes, my mom the sushi and me dim sum and everything. The decor and presentation is just as lovely as the food tastes. And can you believe it, deliver! We had such a great time that we walked out and forgot to take our credit cards or sign our checks. The staff politely followed the moms out of the restaurant and reminded us about our cards… Then these 2 moms felt mortified that we forgot to sign the bill. Oops… Enjoy, I'm sure you will love it there.
Came here for dinner. The menu has great variety and decent prices. It can be very loud. I ate the udon noodles with shrimp which I enjoyed. The service was friendly and efficient. I want to try the sushi here sometime.
I think I've found my new sushi spot. Not really a local to Glen Rock, but I might become one because of this sushi joint. I came here for a surprise birthday dinner for a friend. No one in the group has tried this place before so we were a little iffy about eating raw fish.
The decor is very nice. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and modern seating. The place was very clean and presentation of everything was on point.
The menu provided a variety of foods other than sushi and sashimi. There are options for cooked food such as chicken and noodles and rice dishes. The group ordered a sashimi platter for two and a bunch of speciality rolls that were to die for. I ordered the Eel something roll which had eel wrapped around the outside of the sushi with cooled tempura shrimp inside. It came with about 6 pieces which was more than enough. Prior to that I had ordered the scallion pancakes, which could've been a little softer (nonetheless still good!) and the marinated BBQ short ribs which were amazing. My husband ordered the New Year Roll which had fresh fish on top with caviar.
I have to say, the food, both raw and cooked, exceeded my expectations. I've had fresh sushi before but for a gem like this to be found in NJ, it's amazing.
The staff was friendly and attentive and checked on us everyone once in a while. The best thing about this place is that it's BYOB. They allowed us to store a birthday cake in there while we ate dinner and was very accommodating when we had 2 extra people come with their 18 month old child.
Prices were decent and I wouldn't mind paying the price I paid for the amount of food we got. I suggest anyone in the area looking for fresh sushi to go to this place!
I will definitely come back for my sushi fix!
My experience at Tani Sushi was overall good. The atmosphere is inviting and the décor/lighting really makes this place pleasing to the eye. I love all the red accents. For the important part, the sushi, it was good. I tried some of their "Tani Special Rolls". I got the White & Red roll, which had jalapeño in it. This was my first time trying jalapeno in a sushi roll and while I LOVE jalapenos, I'm not sure how I felt about it in my roll. It was good but had such an extreme kick to it, it was almost unbearable. I noticed towards the end that the jalapenos weren't chopped up, so I was basically was eating big pieces of it within each bite, maybe that's why it seemed a little overwhelming. The second roll was the Orange Dragon, this was salmon tempura, fresh salmon and tempura with a crunch on the outside. No, this roll was not deep fried or cooked, if that's what you're wondering. This was my favorite out of the three. I liked the crunch it had to it, I would order this again for sure. The last roll was the Dinosaur Roll – warning, it is HUGE. The pieces were so big I could barely fit it in my mouth. This one had soft shell crab tempura on the outside of the roll with spicy tuna, shrimp tempura and avocado on the inside. I don't know what it was that I didn't like about this roll, it could be that there was too much going on, it could be that it was the first time I tried soft shell crab on a roll or just the fact that it was difficult to eat…I don't know but I probably wouldn't order it again.
This place has a lot on the menu and many other rolls that I would like to try. I would come back again and explore.
Spicy salmon pizza is something I order every single time.
This place is a local hot spot for sushi and thai flavours. You can tell by the packed house on friday nights.
Call for a reservation or take out.
Will not disappoint!
