I was driving down Bergen Blvd. one night and realized that Pinnacle was no more. Kind of bummed because the food was awesome and it was nice to have a decent bar in town.
So Tapas…
YAY:
– the decor is nice. I appreciated that upon walking in.
– my beer was cold
– The food wasn't bad. It's nothing to rave about as I found it to be bland, but it didn't suck either.
NAY:
– the giant tv with an ocean wave loop in the back. It doesn't fit in AT ALL.
– the water was room temperature with no ice.
-it's INSANELY quiet. Like, I felt I needed to whisper because if I talked normally I'd sound like I was yelling
– there's a sign out front advertising one free tapas until May 15th… I asked about it. It requires that you like their Facebook page. Yet NOWHERE ON THE DOES IT SAY THIS. Sorry, but I find that shady and deceptive.
A big "NO". So this place was the Pinnacle Sports bar, which I had no idea, and realized once my friend and I arrived there to find the same horrible Valet parking. I am going to guess it is under new ownership/management.
Now for the Food and Drinks: My friend and I love sangria. They had three different varieties: White, Red, or Peach. We went with the peach. It wasn't so bad for non traditional sangria. It was sweet and tangy, nice combo. As for the food, they had a late menu to order from. We ordered Chorizo a la Plancha, Fried Calamari, Grilled Pork Rib. News Flash what they served was NOT chorizo! It was a type of colombian sausage…..we were highly disappointed. Not good at all. The calamari was bearable, it was served with marinara (which tasted straight from a cheap jar brand) and some weird lemoney tartar sauce. The grilled pork ribs were probably the best out of the three but yet nothing to be wow'd about. As my friend stated it's something that you would get at a state fair barbecue.
The bartender seems to have her best interest at heart but she is not very attentive. And technically this was my second time there…both times friends of hers have been to the bar to drink and it seems like that makes her distracted. We got there close to 11 and a little past midnight we felt like we were being rushed to leave for some odd reason. I honestly do not understand why this place still has forced Valet parking, when it is never packed at all. It is such a turn off.
As it was coming to closing time, a man who seemed to be the owner or manager kept repeating himself second after second that it was time to leave in a very unappealing tone. My friend and I were already getting up to walk towards the door as he said to two people who were about to get up from their seats, that the cops would be there if they did not get out..mind that it was 2:01 a.m.. We know the bar closes at 2…I am sure those people did too…no need to be aggressive and rude. Very very unprofessional I may say. What a shame. Just seems like another spot that may not last very long in business. The only nice thing about that evening was seeing the new decor, it was a nice touch.
My advice as a person who loves going out to eat, and absolutely loves eating spanish tapas and sangria …..Please take reviews into consideration to make improvements.
