  1. Maybe it's worth coming back when it has a full menu, but I found most dishes pretty run of the mill and ordinary.

    We stopped by on a Friday evening for dinner, and generally we found the cauliflower dishes flavorful and tasty (the spice-roasted cauliflower and pappardelle dishes). However, the brussels sprouts were fairly bland, and the chickpea soup dish was also not very tasty and overwhelmingly filled with chickpeas. We were also a bit underwhelmed by the masala chicken, which was a decently prepared piece of fried chicken but lacked enough spice to make it an interesting dish. The drinks we had were pretty good, and the service was also solid, so it might be worth revisiting again at some point.

  2. The new spot from Top Chef Suvir Saran has flavors from all over the world, with maybe a slightly more Indian bent, including tons of delicious vegetable dishes.

    The best two dishes were probably the Brussels Sprouts Chaat ($14) and the Cauliflower ($16). The Masa Fried Chicken ($25) that everybody there suggested was out of this world was pretty good, but actually not as satisfying and worth trying as the excellent Honey Glazed Pork Chops ($32). As you can tell, things are on the pricey side, but it's all delicious and definitely a nicer experience that can sort of justify it.

    The dessert menu was still verbal and just limited to two standard items, so we skipped that. Service was perfect throughout though and the space is beautiful, including some very nice, comfortable booths, so I would definitely return to check out some of the new items when they inevitably start lunch and brunch soon.

  3. Suvir Saran and team have created a wonderful place with delightfully comforting and complex dishes.  I dare call it global comfort food, you've had these items before, but each dish is elevated by a symphonic blend of new flavors and flawless execution.

    Arrive early for a drink at the bar and the inventive, and uniformly declicious, cocktails crafted by Jessy Peters. "Something Wicked"–mezcal, habanero sangrita, pineapple, and lime in a smoked salt-rimmed glass–was a particular standout. A small selection of bottled craft beers are available.  The wine list is small, about 15 to 20 options, but each is available by the glass.

    The menu provides a delightful conundrum of choice but informed service staff are able to properly guide diners about choices and portion size.  Standout dishes are all over the menu.  The Masala Fried chicken is of course a must try.  Picky eaters need not fear, the masala spicing complements the perfectly fried chicken.  Brussels Sprouts Chaat (with tamarind & mint chutneys, yogurt, kaala namak) and Avocado & Cabbage Slaw (with cashews, crispy shallots, chile jam, lime, cumin) were also big winners, the latter with the right balance of avocado creaminess and crispy slaw.

    The Italian-inspired offerings were also worthy of attention.  Triple Basil Mussels
    (with perfectly al dente orecchiette, chile oil, mixed peppercorn, black garlic) is as good as at any Italian restaurant. The only thing missing was some italian bread to sop up the remaining sauce.  Fresh pappardelle is creatively paired with cauliflower, for a highly comforting dish.

    Save room for dessert by pastry chef Crystal Hanks.  The choices rotate, but we were luckt to have the banana pudding trifle, with layers of caramel and candied nuts.  However, the real star of the dessert was the Sticky Toffee Pudding – (with caramel tulip, salted caramel ice cream and smoked Maldon salt tuille)–it has the texture of a bread pudding, but its uniform and balanced with a deep, but not too sweet flavor. I hope it always stays on the menu.

    The pricing is very reasonable for food of this quality, and the space is warm and welcoming. The volume is a touch on the loud side, but food this good often spurs robust conversation.
