Taqueria Puebla
“Everything is SUPERB from the quesadillas to the enchiladas verde down to the tacos al pastor.”
“Though many of the employees may not have a grasp of the English language, they do offer an English menu, and one of the better selections of Mexican food around.”
“The only recommendation that I would make is to hire someone who speaks English to take delivery orders for non-speaking Spanish folks like myself :-).”

A friend taught me if you see natives in an ethic restaurant then it must be good!!!!!
This restaurant is located in the North Shore of the Island. Right across the street Mt. Carmel church. This mom and pop shop gets busy with their regular customers. The parking lot is located in the back of the shop.
When I was a vegetarian, I was super obsessed with their "flautas de queso". It was fresh and mmmm so good. Please try them in my honor! :-). Now that I am a vegan, I only get tostadas or quesadillas without the dairy products. Another reason why I am fan is because they also serve fresh squeezed natural juices.
For the carnivores, my co-workers are super crazy about their tacos asadas and their nachos with ground beef. My best friend always get their tostadas de bistec. You will definitely come out of here full and satisfied!!!!!!!!!
Tips
1. Parking. As mentioned above you should have any problem parking. They have a parking lot in the back and also street parking. Plenty of options.
2. Public Transportation. The s/46, s/54, s/66 and s/53 leaves you literally in front of the restaurant. During rush hours the s/96 will take you there faster.
3. Customer service. Don't expect stellar service. Its a chill laid back environment. So relax and enjoy the moment. Also, you are learning Spanish, great place to practice it. Some staff don't speak English but the waitresses usually do.
4. Delivery. This is the reason why I didn't gave it 5 stars. It takes a forever and a day for them to delivery. At our job, we order at 11:30 am because we know it takes an hour to come. Sundays are the worst, up to 2 hours wait time! Your best bet is to order and pick up the food.
5. Enjoy the guacamole and chips for me!!!!!!!
I had an excellent going away lunch here with my co-workers. We were just about the only people inside but it looked like they were handling a carryout order. Thank goodness there were chips and salsa to share while we waited as service was slow through the meal. The salsa was made with fresh (winter fresh) produce and had just enough kick.
Ordering was a bit of a painful task and I can't chalk it up to language barrier because the waitress had a grasp on English. To our detriment, most of us had one question or another on the predominantly Spanish language menu. Maybe our large group surprised her, but there was an obvious lack of either experience or training in serving.
No matter though! My chilaquiles were fantastic! The chips were a little more crispy than I prefer but the green salsa was a little more watery than usual and it soon softened them. Also unusual, it came with some good sized very thin slices of steak with 2 fried eggs. The steak was caramelized and flavorful. It was even better with the slices of perfectly ripe avocado on top of my chilaquiles. The green salsa that came out with our meal added a bit of Smokey heat.
My table was quiet during lunch so I can only imagine they enjoyed their tacos, enchiladas, and quesadillas. Speaking of quesadillas, I was expecting a 10" corn tortilla folded in half. Imagine my surprise when freshly pressed tortillas came out stuffed with meat and cheese. These things were no joke the size of small burritos. I didn't try one, but that homemade tortilla looked awesome.
There's parking on the corner if you drive in. Don't be too surprised by the rice and beans here. It confirmed my suspicion that New York Mexican food has been strongly influenced by the Caribbean. The rice is pale yellow and the beans are stewed black beans.
Want yummy and cheap Mexican food? Heck yea, who doesn't?! This place is all bout "VIVA MEXICO" and it's quite a happy place to be with its loud music, family-friendly, and yummy food. It's not quite suitable for vegetarians, or vegans for that matter, but if you love cheese, this is the place for you.
The tacos, as many people have said before, are authentic and yummy. The quesadilla is unlike any I've had before – I had the mongos (mushroom) quesadilla and it's like a giant, somewhat watery (but the tortilla doesn't get watery?! HOW?!), taco with tons of iceberg lettuce and queso blanco. The sope is also delicious – like a pizza with lettuce and black beans.
Also – be sure to try some of their Mexican drinks. The yellowish BOING is really really good – it's like mango juice.
