Taqueria Tepango
“Try the chicken tinga burrito, combo Mexico or the tacos al pastor.”
“Then came the super taco, which is more like a fajita burrito – full of meat, cheese, grilled onions and with a pile of pico de gallo and big dollop of guac.”
“Taqueria Tepango is better than Castros
It may be whole-in-the-wallish, but it's worth the stay.”

I've never been more obsessed with Mexican delivery. Seriously. This place is the real deal. I've been fantasizing about their enchiladas for weeks now. I keep ordering them and thinking I'll be good for a while, but no, the next day, hunger strikes and what do I think to myself…
"If I lived alone and had no one around to judge me, I'd definitely order those damn enchiladas for dinner for the third time this week!"
All the food is incredible. And the delivery is extremely fast. LOVE THIS PLACE!
Oye yai ya this is what I'm talking about mami. A fresh, hot delicious burrito in a cute little restaurant at a table by the window. It could have been cleaner, the window in front had a fly stuck on it; minor picky details, but 4 stars for the food.
This family has been here for a decade. Our final bill was $9.80, with tax, before tip, and we were happily stuffed.
There's a hard working man in the back creating magic. They presented us with a basket of chips and salsa. The guacamole was damn good and fresh. So was the cilantro, much to my demise, but hey … I enjoyed this too much to care about. I shared this large burrito and we were both satisfied, stuffed even.
I'll go back. Happily. Can't wait. So come if you want good food. It's far from trendy or hipster, but I think that's what's hip now so …
Vive la Mexican Brooklyn burrito !!
This was one of Brooklyn's best kept secrets. Cats out the bag now. So if you love Mexican food, this should be your go to spot. Before I got all health conscious and decided to give up meat, I lived for el pastor tacos. Not even a pork lover but this place did something really special and I liked it. The burritos are huge. When you're feeling greedy, go ahead and indulge. Feel guilty later after you've made your taste buds happy. Now a days I get the vegetarian enchiladas. Portion size is good, but they do use the frozen mixed veggies. Womp, kinda sucks I know right. Stick with the meat options is my suggestion for first timers.
This was the first place I went out to eat when I moved to Fort Greene (was taken by my new roommates who've lived in the neighborhood for 4 years).
They literally said to me, hey, this is why you're going to get fat. Enjoy. Also, they deliver. Also, don't judge it by how it looks.
LOL. But seriously- the decor, the building, the servers, the menu, it's all very thrown together and random and not high-end, but the food is freaking ridiculous, and not that expensive, and they give you a TON of food.
My two friends has platters, that came with like 300 things and rice and beans. I went with the carnitas cemita, which is basically a torta with cheese. FANTASTIC.
Also, it has an A rating, so, it's clean! And, it's BYOB, which is also amazing.
I'll be back ASAP.
I should eat at TT every day for the rest of my life. Who ever even heard of a round burrito! This is the closest thing I've gotten to authentic since moving here. A $5 Guac and chips is enough to feed 5 people. Plus the name is fun to say!
I was very disappointed with the interaction I had when I walked into the store. I had called 15 minutes ago, to place an order. Whomever answer the phone, abruptly tool my order and jus hang up. Ok, so o figure they are busy and i walked downstairs to pick up the order myself. I order a chicken tinga burrito. First the burrito was just warm and when i bit into it, all i tasted was rice, chicken and beans and a mild taste of medium spicy chili. The presentation had a side of pico de gallo and guacamole but its not something i go back for. On top of the negative attitude i got when i picked up my food, i dont think i have an excuse to come back to this place not even for take out or if i was desperate. Its a shame because the tacos and tortas are pretty good. However everyone at the counter is not friendly, i greeted the lady at the counter by saying good evening, i gave her my name and my order so she knows and all she did was extend her hand out so i could pay, not even a thank you. I walked away and i said thank you to the lady but i wont be coming back.
I think about these burritos all the time. All. the. time.
My now-girlfriend took me here on our first date, and while I was put off by the decor, my first bite of our shared veggie burrito made me understand. I've had their veggie burrito (good with or without cheese, but especially with) and their beef burrito, and they're both delicious.
If you want ~nice ambience~ and a ~tasteful dining experience~, go somewhere else. If you want a giant, damn good burrito, check out Tepango.
I am decidedly NOT a taco expert, but dang were these good. The al pastor and chorizo tacos were perfection, and the chicken was solid but I wouldn't order it again. The nachos weighed several pounds (guac is extra) and we actually needed more chips because there were so many toppings and such a huge coating of cheese.
They take cards with a $10 minimum, so bring cash or get the nachos with your friends (or just even more tacos). My debit card bank's Fraud Protection Unit called me up about the charge from Tepango the next day, and I excitedly pressed 1 for YES, I did eat here. And will again.
