  1. Lovely place to stop by on a blustery, cold morning!  Although M and I didn't take advantage of its brunch offerings, the waitstaff were super gracious. We sat at the bar, drank hot coffee and sampled a biscotti and a cookie from their many carby offerings.

    I'd love to come by and eat some time.  Lovely, cozy, bright place!

  2. Passing by on a Friday night, Tarallucci looked cozy and upscale without being stuffy. The interiors are well appointed but acoustics can be challenging, as everyone's laughter and chatter seemed to reverberate more than expected. The service was definitely mixed – we waited awhile for our menus, awhile for our order to be taken, and awhile still to ask for the check. I understand giving your clientele the time and space they would want to enjoy a leisurely meal but that does not mean you chat with the other servers and not pay attention to your tables as they try to flag you down.

    That being said, the food was delicious. We had glasses of the pinot, the risotto, and the insalata. The red was deep and round, while the risotto was a bit stiffer than is preferred but a lovely pumpkin infused dish nevertheless. The insalata was lightly dressed and a good portion. The menu was a bit confusing since it appeared to be small plates but then the last section were entree-sized were higher priced so we assumed they were bigger. The server, whose English wasn't great, didn't explain this very well when we asked but we put it together fast enough.

    All in all, the food and ambiance was the redeeming quality of the place and we'll be back to try the small plates, however I hope service can be tightened up.

  3. Immediately after walking in a Friday night my party of 3 thought we would love this place. It is clean, intimate and it has outdoor seating (which I LOVE, on hot summer days in NYC). However the food had no taste which made our dinner extramural boring (taste vise). We will most likely not be returning for dinner.

    The staff was friendly enough, they followed up with drinks, answered our questions about the food in a nice way before we ordered, but we were overall disappointed by the food in the end. I have a strict policy of not sending food back unless it is something wrong with it, or if it was not what I ordered so we all just stuck it out. Both my friends had the Tagliatelle, and I had the Vegetable Lasagna .

    Like I said, the place look great, it has an ideal location and the staff is friendly. We might come back just to brows through their wine list on a late afternoon. I can imagine this being an ideal spot for a drink after work especially if you get to sit outside.

  4. I go to Tarallucci e Vino in the mornings, for a nice cup of cappuccino and almond croissant. I sit outside, on one of their tables and I enjoy the serenity (well, relatively speaking) of the Upper West Side.
    Their coffees are strong and their croissants are flaky.

    No complaints, here.

  5. This is one of the most pleasant places to lollygag on the Upper West Side. As the years go by, the constancy of the local team becomes a comfort. Local or not, the restaurant's casual, yet modern, bistro design is a delight. The atmosphere here is almost always bright and festive. While the food has come a long way, it still has a way to go. The caprese and burrata salad was excellent. The bread selection was good, but a little hard (with no butter). Our waiter was friendly and efficient. His rolling Italianesque accent made canned tuna with mayo, surrounded by pork cold cuts, sound like a good choice. Salads, charcuterie and cheese continue to be your best bets here.

  6. I really enjoyed my meal here.  I had the raviolis (which came in a wine and speck sauce).  The olive bread was pretty good, and the service was good as well.

  7. Went to a wine bar, didn't order wine. Sounds like a meme in the making.

    The ambiance and location of this place are supreme, but the food isn't memorable. Still a good time though!

    Our group of six started off with complimentary bread, oil, and olive paste (yelp.com/biz_photos/tara…), which was the perfect appetite stimulant.

    My friends ordered a QUICHE, $9 (yelp.com/biz_photos/tara…); the TOAST ALLA FRANCESE, which is brioche French toast, bananas, mascarpone cream, $10 (yelp.com/biz_photos/tara…); and some white wines.

    I chose the UOVA E PORCHETTA, which is poached eggs, grilled porchetta, soft polenta for $10 (yelp.com/biz_photos/tara…). The yolk from the pierced poached eggs fused well with the creamy polenta topped with grated Parmesan cheese. The porchetta was decently salty, a welcome component to this enjoyable, modestly filling dish. It wouldn't fill up large appetites, though.

    Okay, admission time. Wanna know the real reason why I didn't order wine? I glow like crazy, and as much as I like coordinating outfits, I didn't find it necessary to match the red fall colors in Central Park. Hmph.
