food: house special noodle soup. the noodles were decent, but the meats tasted like leftovers. ***2/5
service: the server was nice and got my order right away. service was a bit slow. a person was waiting for nearly 20 minutes for a bowl of noodles to go. it took me a while to get food too. ***3/5
value: not that great for me. maybe it's the dumplings people keeping raving about, which i did not get to try. however, based on the stuff i ate, not very impressed. ***2/5
I was really excited to try this place out because I am always down for handmade noodles. However, when I got here the staff was rude to us immediately. We were a party of 12 and we asked if they had available tables. The first lady straight up said no in a rude manner. The second lady was really nice and accomodating. She said there are bigger tables in the basement and asked if its okay if we sat down there. We were super hungry so we were willing to take whatevere there was. We waited 15 minutes for the table. We sat down in the basement and the first lady literaly just threw the menus onto the table and walked away. This was her second strike, but wait, there's more. Throughout our meal, she was consistently rude to us, slamming down our bowl of noodles and plates of dumplings onto our table, giving us our tea 30 minutes after we asked her to refill it, and even pushed one of my friends as we left because we were in her way apparently. The first few times of her rudeness was fine and we let it slip by, but the push at the end is completely unnecessary and made us feel really uncomfortable being there. I don't understand how someone working in the restaurant business can behave like this. I understand that this chinatown, but I really don't expect service to be this bad.
Although the food was good, it was quite lacking in flavor. The dumplings tasted really homemade, but not restaurant quality to be honest. It was good but nothing memorable. I ordered the roast pork hand pulled regular noodles because it looked great from the picture – however, it was not like the pictures to my disappointment. Besides from the mediocre food, the prices are great. The restaurant is really small and cramped. I probably wouldn't be back here again because there are way more restaurants in Chinatown that offer the same price.

Ordered the fried pork dumplings (so flavorful and good), chicken noodle stir fry (bit on the oily side), and beef noodle soup (yes soup broth, yes!). Would definitely come back again. Granted I did smell like oil/Chinese wok grease but it was worth it for the meal. Came here with a friend and devoured everything.

This place is located inside an alleyway and was a bit difficult to find. The inside is pretty small and not the best kept. When we were seated, the workers were still cleaning the floor and didn't even ask me to move my feet…it was a bit rude but they make up for it with their food. The table we were at also had someone else's half drunken snapple bottle.
I ordered the #1 house noodles which is with hand made noodle called "dao xiao mian" which means cut with knife. There was PLENTY of noodle in there so be prepared to eat! The broth was super delicious and I added hot sauce to it which made it even better. The meat in it wasn't too fatty and was super good too. We also ordered a serving of the pork potstickers to share and it was pretty darn good! This tasted very homemade and you can tell it's very authentic.
The noodles and dumplings here were really good, but it was nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary I haven't tried elsewhere. Having passed by Tasty quite a few times I always wanted to try it, but with the amount of options in Chinatown it's always been hard to get to every "good" restaurant.
I came here on a Thursday afternoon at about 12:30 and the tiny restaurant you can say was pretty much packed. There's only a few tables inside so packed is a relative term to the amount of space they have available. Half of therestaurant is dedicated to the kitchen, while the other half for dining.
Our group sat down and I immediately noticed that half of the dining area was filled with tourists and the other half were locals. Although there were many options on the menu, we all ordered the #1 House Special Noodle Soup (Beef, Tendon, Tripe, Ox Tail and Fried Egg) because it had the most ingredients. In addition, we ordered an appetizer of boiled dumplings.The dumplings were good and were filled with meat, but there was nothing there that 'Wowed' me. As for the noodles, same there. The noodles were spot on good, but it did lack an abundance of the proteins. There were bits here and there, but not a lot.
Tasty made for a good quick meal and, as with most Chinatown fare, it was cheap! Nothing here will differentiate it from other noodle restaurants, but the food is solid still. Also, the restaurant is CASH ONLY, so make sure you hit up the bank prior to sitting down!

Beef Noodle Soup – $7.50 – One of the best because of the noodles. Those hand pulled noodles really make a difference. They have the perfect texture and bite. The beef and soup are good but the noodles make the entire dish. The bowl is huge too. We always share and get full off of one.
Tasty always hits the spot when it is freezing outside on those cold days in NYC.
The name of this place says it all. A no frills, hole-in-the-wall place where every dish is an average of $7-8. If you come here you must order a noodle soup or pan-fried noodle dish. There is every type of noodle imaginable: skinny rice, knife peeled, regular rice, regular hand pulled, fat hand pulled, small wide hand pulled, big wide hand pulled.
On a cold day my comfort food is beef noodle soup. The flavorful broth, tender beef and perfectly cooked noodles hit the spot after a long day of touristing. I saw the guy in the kitchen freshly make and pull each batch. He was a noodle making machine trying to keep up with all the orders.
Note: This place is a tiny joint where if you're hungry enough you're willing to share a table with others. Service is quick, almost-abrupt, but is forgiven because maybe it's the language barrier. Food is too legit to quit that you don't mind all these inconveniences that you usually avoid.
I'm willing to book a plane ticket and fly cross-country to come back and dine at this establishment. Or maybe request an apprenticeship in noodle pulling.
I really like this place, but cmon guys, why you gotta be so cheap with the meat? I get a full bowl of noodle and soup with like 3 pieces of duck. I get a plate of dry knife noodle with only like 3 pieces of duck again! I can't eat my food proportional if the ratio of carbs to meat is like that. Then it just makes me wanna toss the noodles out! Or I know, take it home and buy a side of roasted pork and add it together myself. Tasty hand pulled noodle – please step up your game!
