  1. A very AVERAGE brunch spot.  Came with two friends Saturday morning (11:00 AM) to make sure we can grab a table for brunch in the rooftop and made it but to be honest I don't think the wait would be that long anyways.  The rooftop is actually pretty spacious and even when my party left around 1:00 PM there were still a good amount of seats available.  It would be great if there weren't two huge buildings on the sides of the rooftop.  If you want to go to a rooftop brunch with nice views – this place ain't for you… it has a nice atmosphere though!

Our waitress was very nice and constantly checked up on us.  We got the Breakfast Biscuit Stack, Tavern Benedict and the Breakfast Platter.

Breakfast Biscuit Stack – this consists of fried chicken, sausage gravy, fried egg and bacon.  The waitress told us this came with sides as well so my friend got the Parmesan Fries.  According to her – the fried chicken wasn't fried.. it was breaded and tasted very average.  The waitress also failed to inform us that the side of Parmesan Fries would be an additional $2 whereas if my friend got the sides of home fries it would've been free.  It would be nice if the waitress gave us that additional info before we ordered "a side that came with the dish."

Tavern Benedict – came with toasted English muffin, poached eggs, Canadian bacon, spinach and chipotle hollandaise.  This was a very average dish as well… I definitely had better egg benedicts.

Breakfast Platter – came with mini chocolate chip pancakes, sausage, bacon, home fries and a side of fries.  My friend got a side of Parmesan Fries as well but it never came.  She told me her dish was okay too but nothing astonishing.

In the middle of our brunch session, our waitress came over and dropped some menus on the end of our table and told us another party will join the table.  I thought this was a bit rude as I was never advised a potential party can join us during our meal – it would be nice if she informed us prior.  Fine – we moved down a bit since we were almost done anyways.  It was a bit ridiculous that after the additional party joined, our waitress did not come back ONCE to check up on us.  We had to wave our hands to get our check AND the waitress added an extra $2 for the Parmesan Fries that my friend never got (for the Breakfast Platter).

Overall, a very average experience.  There are better brunch spots out there so unfortunately, I will not be returning.

  2. I would also go to this spot if I could get a spot on the rooftop. Or get a drunk by the bar. The floor is between is dark and un exciting. Good beers. Also a good spot for bottomless brunch.

  3. Awesome burgers! Went here 2 Saturdays ago to eat lunch and have some drinks.  We decided to sit downstairs because the rooftop area sounded like a nightclub at 230pm and we saw a few drunk people stumble out. Downstairs was pretty quiet and the ambiance was relaxing.  Only complaint is that we waited foooorrrreeevvveeerrr for our food.  Luckily the bartender was nice and we weren't in a super rush.

  4. This place is pretty great for a pub bar atmosphere and definitely a quality bar.  We had made a reservation for a large group for dinner.

Drinks: a pretty simple selection of drinks and cocktails all reasonably priced. The Ramble On was very delicious and the perfect mix of whiskey and sweet. Highly recommend, even if you aren't a whiskey person.

Appetizers: the guacamole and chips were delightful and downed in seconds. The charcuterie board was okay, I felt they didn't give you enough cheese options for the size of the board. We then got the sampler which everyone loved and gobbled down, absolutely perfect allowing you to taste a selection of mini sliders, fries, and wings.

Dinner: Everyone seemed to enjoy their dinners, the salads looked really good. I had the chicken sandwich which was delicious.  It didn't seem like you can go wrong with any of the options.

This place is great for groups, and takes reservations, priced pretty reasonable too!

  5. It was Sunday afternoon and we were looking for a nice brunch spot. Tavern29 had their rooftop open with no wait!

I ordered the Lobster Benedict with a Bloody Mary. A friend ordered the Tavern's Special Bloody Mary and I definitely regret not dishing out the extra $2!

Overall it was a relaxing atmosphere for brunch – don't expect a view of the city, it was more of a nice get away from midtown scenery. Also was a bit disappointed that my eggs were medium instead of runny but still enjoyed my meal 🙂

  6. BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH FTW!

My group of friends and I have been to Tavern29 twice during GovBall trips (2014 and this year) for bottomless brunch because it's pretty much the BEST TIME EVER. Unfortunately, this year the weather wasn't the best so their rooftop was closed, but brunch on their rooftop is pretty much what dreams are made of. Sunshine, booze, and jamming out to hits from the 90's…what more could you really ask for?

I can't comment much on the food – I mean, it's decent. Obviously the two hour bottomless mimosa/bloody/beer deal is mostly what draws people in I would imagine.

MAJOR SHOUT OUT to our waiter and the bartenders who put up with our extreme rowdiness and the dance party we started in the middle of their bar last Sunday. I'VE NEVER FELT SO ALIVE.

  7. The rooftop here is classy and different. For some reason, I like the idea of communal seating and wish it was more of a thing in NY. The space is rather small/intimate with a bunch of long, wooden tables, and no standing room really. Ideal for small groups or dates. (This is only in regard to the rooftop, not the first or second floors which I believe is more spacious.)
We came Friday evening for drinks and it was after "dinnertime" but before "late night"
The drink menu is decently extensive and offers something for everyone. I don't often order wine at bars unless it's a "wine bar" but they had a nice selection so I went with the riesling which was very good! Our server was kind and very attentive as well.
For food, I've only tried the truffle parmesan fries which were AMAZING – perfectly crisp, well seasoned, not overdone or too greasy (greasy truffle fries make me nauseous ugh) – so definitely would not hesitate to come here for brunch or lunch or dinner.

  8. I asked for creamer in my coffee and did not get any. The waitress was also the bartender which meant that she was super busy  and had to take care of the people at the bar first!
Not sure why other waitresses didn't help her…

Our food came out cold and we watched several tables receive their food before us. Sat there for a good 45 min after placing the order.

The food was nothing special. a 2 1/2 star at best. The bacon was burnt and my pancakes were dry.

My friend's $10 mimosa was like a shot size. The bathroom was not very clean and no place to hang your purse. A big no-no for me…

Our table was also not very clean and was very wobbly. No one came to fix it for us. We were only checked on once too.

Sorry to say, I will not be coming back. Between the bad service and bland food, I am giving it a one star.
