  1. New to the tea game, i was a little lost when i walked in and didn't find a menu or "list". To find what you want you can either walk around sampling the 10 different teas they have in the shop, which was pretty cool but kind of limiting seeing all the containers behind the counter or you could sit there and talk with the tearista? about what it is that you're looking for, which is what i did since this place was empty. Man, that was a long sentence.

So, i really wish i could tell you what i had but i'm not sure it had a name. The tea master mixed 2 different sets of herbs and the outcome was a really sweet blend with the most noticeble flavor being peach. It was an outstanding cup of tea, but i wish it had a "name".

There isn't anywhere to sit in here so order your rea, try all the samples , grab your tea 5+ minutes later then get out. No lazy bandwidth stealing here – get your drink and go!

  2. Thank you Teavana for all those hot and cold tea samples on my way home from work everyday. They bring me so much joy. They have samples both inside and outside of the store, so don't be shy. I have bought some great tasting tea loose leaf tea here and am so glad to have this place in my neighborhood. I recently bought a gift here for a friend that was a gorgeous tea cup with a ceramic strainer and lid/coaster that was reasonably priced. I am thinking about going back to get one for myself.

  3. Nice place. Great service. I'm a big tea fan and it's usually hard to find the really good white teas, but Teavana had two varieties of yin zhen (silver needle) tea, including one–yin zhen pearls–I hadn't seen before.

There is a downside though: this place is expensive, at least as far as these silver needles go.  You can get teas of comparable quality for significantly less online and even at smaller, local-ish retailers where you'd expect higher prices.

  4. I'm kinda torn about this place. I love the tea. Love it, and want it all the time. That being said, it's insanely expensive for tea. I keep coming back for more, so take that for whatever it's worth.

  5. We'd bought a particularly nice thermos at one of Teavana's Indianapolis stores back in early July.  The (90-day) warranty limit was soon approaching, so my husband finally tried using the thermos – whereupon he discovered that the top leaked badly, even with the seal properly in place.  Further, it was very difficult to *keep* the seal in place.  This location is the closest one to where we live and it's not exactly nearby, so I didn't feel like spending lots of time getting there & back and spending $5 to do so when the item was defective.  I called the manager and ascertained her schedule vs. when I'd next be in that vicinity.  Unfortunately I had to cancel twice, since urgent situations occurred.  *Finally* I was able to go there five days ago – and not only was the manager (Josefina) very pleasant & understanding on the phone (especially considering that the warranty had expired by the time I finally went there), but she was *wonderful* in person.  In fact, she's extremely compassionate.

In addition, a really sweet young guy was working there and he was very helpful.

  6. This Teavana on Madison could easily be a flagship. Tastings galore encourage customers to sample teas they would otherwise likely pass up. Hot teas and iced teas, take your pick.

The staff are courteous, friendly and helpful. Half the space is dedicated to teas and samples. The other half to ordering and steeping.

There is a long tree trunk bench and a few tables and chairs, not enough for a typical crowd. Without any electrical outlets, they certainly aren't encouraging long stays ala its corporate owner Starbucks (which is good and bad).

  7. The other place I frequent for beverages when I'm in this area. The staff are really friendly and cheered me up after that torrential downpour last Friday. And $108 later (said I was only going in for a new tumbler) I have lots more Teavana to add to my growing stash.

We all have things we spend our money somewhat frivolously on…and food-type items are my thing. So are clothes and trinkets and…whatever I needed a nice hot tea to warm my insides during a tropical storm and they entertained me for a sold half hour.

Huge variety of teas at very high prices. However, you often get what you pay for–but there are places to get cheaper teas. I just haven't had the time or energy since I switched to loose leaf teas (no longer steeping traditional bags fill with the dust of tea, if I can avoid it) to search online or in local spots for substantially lower costs. Will look into it soon, though because that sh*t cray! You can also stop in and order any iced or hot tea that they have in the store, so that's nice, and if you don't wanna spend anything, treat it like Stew Leonard's and just walk through the store TRYING EVERY SAMPLE YOU SEE!

But I love my new Matte Purple tumbler. Love, love love. If you've got money to burn and you're into teas of any kind…check out any of their locations. Or let me know how to be a more cost-efficient tea shopper.

  8. After spending a few days with my girlfriend in Raleigh, I discovered the all wonderful loose teas from Teavana!

On the plane ride home I vigorously searched for the closest location and to my surprise (in the city where high prices = trendy/cool) there were only two in the city. I headed to the UES location.

It's a really great spot, literally right out of the NE corner station on the 4/5/6 train at 86th and Lexington. Convenient!!!

There were two employees working, one man who seemed angry and barely cracked a smile the entire time I was there. The young lady who helped me however was so helpful, willing, charming, and funny! How un-New York of her!!!

I smelled enough tea to knock me out and ended up purchasing two different types.

    1. Zingiber Ginger Coconut – Mix with some Califia Farms coconut milk for just shy of the best tea experience of your life.

    2. Tranquil Dream – New to me but smells very relaxing!

Overall, since I love the product I will return and hope that same friendly girl will be working!
