  1. Pretty decent mexican. The outside isnt really impressive. The wait service was good but the bartender was a bit backed up. Nice happy hour specials. Margaritas were on the strong side and tasty. They had some great vegetarians options for my wife. Veggie fajitas looked plentiful. Good for a casual night out and some cheap drinks.

  2. Meatball Shop was packed so I ended up here.
They never brought us chips and salsa. Other tables had them. I guess they forgot?
Waiters grasp of English is novice. I asked for fajitas for no tortillas or rice and he kept saying "only rice? no beans?" No, dude. All beans, no rice.

    The margarita was good, though.

  3. Annoyed that they did not have the free happy hour buffet like their sign claimed they did when we went but the frozen margarita here is very good.  Much better than the one I had at Wicked Willy's in March; it was not from a machine.  The menu looked good & I'd love to come back to try the food.

  4. So we strolled in here because it was Cinco de Mayo and we happened to pass by, and honestly we could've definitely kept on walking.

All we really got were shots, a handful of beers, and the saddest plate of nachos I've ever seen, but nothing really stood out in a positive way…and these nachos…were so depressing.

Usually when I think nachos, I imagine a heaping plate of tortilla chips bending under the weight of a massive portion of chili, cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, etc. This was literally 8 chips on a plate with a slight drizzle of a couple of the aforementioned items. Nothing more…and I doubt there's ever been anything less.

There's no atmosphere here or anything, so it's not like hey, don't order the food, just get your drink on. Just keep walking…I know I wish I had.

  5. When I am not able to go to my favorite Mexican place in Brooklyn, I end up here.  They have amazing food at a decent price, half off drinks during happy hour, and the staff is very polite. I always order the enchiladas mole because it's ridiculously good. Most of their entrees come with refried beans, shredded lettuce, and yellow rice. The music reminds me of the good ol' memories I had when I was on a boat in the Caribbean.

  6. Patty of 10 arrived without reservations and we were accommodated well after a short wait.  It's a loud place with wooden tables and hardwood floors and a full bar and flat screen tvs.  Fun for FIFA futbol!

The service was very good. Everyone was happy with food and drinks. The birthday flan was tasty and the song and hat was a nice surprise.

The bathroom was clean enough with a weird accordion screen that separated the loo from the hand washing area.  There were no hand towels which were promptly replenished when I told them about there being none.

    I would go again!

  7. Look, I'm familiar with 'dives' and I LOVE a good hole-in-the-wall place, but Tequila Chito's simply fell flat in every category, from food to drinks to service.

The beau and I were starving after seeing Sleep No More, and just wanted a place to eat, drink, and compress. Based on the location and Yelp reviews, we ended up here, with low expectations.

I should note, we weren't sure if the rest of our group would be joining us, so there was some weirdness about how big of a table we needed, but I kept saying 'the two of us are definitely going to eat and drink, can we just sit down?'

We had three different servers, only one of which was actually nice to us.

The first guy took almost 10 minutes to even take our drink order. The guy who made our guacamole table side was super nice, (and honestly, the guac was he best part of the entire experience), but he wasn't really a server.

The manager took our entree order and basically took care of us the rest of the evening, but we had to ask for water three times, and it was never refilled.

Now for the food: I'm familiar with gringo Mexican food. I am a big fan of pretty much every kind of Mexican food. And the food here was just really, really bland.

The free salsa honestly tasted like ketchup. It was very strange.

The margaritas were underwhelming and expensive.

I had the shrimp flautas, which were overlooked and had ZERO flavor. Like, there was literally no flavor. Nothing.

The bf had the super buro, which was also super bland. He said he felt like the chicken had been boiled- there was nothing stand-out about the taste. Just different textures.

The table side guacamole was really good, and a I mentioned earlier, that guy was by far the nicest employee we dealt with.

But overall? Overpriced, under-seasoned, underwhelming, and not the nicest staff.

I'd suggest finding a different place to eat.

  8. It's a dive. BUT, if you are looking for a cheap place in Chelsea with potentially a straight male or two…well, this isn't really the place for the that either. BUT, if you go during happy hour, or basically any other time because it never looks full, get their margaritas. The banana just tasted like booze, but it was a lot, and at about $6 a pop, NOT bad idea for a pregame location. AND, they give chips and salsa. Now, it's just something to gnosh on because the salsa definitely tasted like ketchup with some chunky things in there…nothing exciting, but it did absorb some of the booze.

Kinda sketchy guys around…if you're dressed up to go out and just there for the drinkies…keep your coat on. Otherwise, I'll be heading back! Can't imagine the food is any good…but I may give it a chance next time. It IS cheap, and IS in Chelsea so if worse comes to worse, it's in proximity to lots of other places!
