  1. I've had worse Mexican food than Tequila Mexicano by a long shot, but even on their best day, the food is at best three stars.  There is so much going on with Tequila Mexicano that I'd have to be drunk off of some actual patron to give this place a shot again.

For a place that only opened up recently, the place was dingy and somewhat dirty.  I like hole in the walls, but this place wasn't up to par.  If it weren't for the fact the prices were so affrordable and my insatiable appetite for Mexican food is so out of control, I would've given up on them entirely.  The staff seemed somewhat unapologetic for being so lethargic during my only dine-in experience there I decided to resort to delivery instead.

Avoid delivery from this place at all costs.  The delivery is without a doubt the worst I've ever experienced in NYC.  Not once, but *three times* they've been over 90 minutes late.  For two of those three times I called in to cancel my order because they were just so slow.  Service on the phone wasn't all that great either.  Speaking Spanish didn't help and speaking English was met with only silence.

The food is passable, satisfactory at best, and fairly average in the grand spectrum of Mexican food in New York.  Presentation looks fairly good and the portions seem pretty hearty.  Be it delivery or eating in, I've had dishes served that were cold and dry.  That's not my idea of good food period, let alone Mexican food.

I do genuinely feel bad.  I feel it is my duty to support more local Mexican establishments in the hope they gain more notoriety here in New York.  But it always starts with the food.  If the product and execution are flawed, there needs to be some changes.  Until Tequila Mexicano makes those changes, their days are numbered.
