This wine bar is in Tribeca and we were there fairly early on a Friday evening so not sure if it is always as few people as when we were there. Around 5-6 people waiting tables and maybe 6 groups of people having some wine. Despite that service was a bit on the slow side but as we were not really in a hurry that was fine.
The wine list is extensive but it felt as the ability of the staff to have a bit of discussion around the wines was pretty limited but we did have some nice wines – the pours are generous (a half glass is more like 3/4ths of a normal glass) so pretty decent value for money. They offer some interesting wine flights, these are good value if there outside of happy hour times – if there during happy hour those prices are better.
They offer some basic food as well and we tried some of the cheese and charcuteries and it was good quality all the way through but nothing exceptional at all.
My main objection of the place would be that it does not really have a nice atmosphere to it. They had the lights on very bright (like one would do when trying to get people to leave before closing), the music was a bit too loud which caused people to shout so the sound level was more like a club than a wine bar.
Still they do have a good wine selection and the happy hour means lower prices on almost all wines so well worth a visit if in the area.
I found this when searching for a happy hour spot and a friend recommended it. Definitely a good spot and awesome if you can make it in before 6pm for happy. They have a serious wine list with something for everyone. I had a great Pinot Noir. There are also food deals on some of the items if you get them before 6pm. It wasn't too crowded and there was an event in the back. We sat at the bar but there were some regular and hi top tables as well. I would definitely come back if I was in the neighborhood. My burger was delicious as were the fries.
This was a pretty cool place with a pretty cool atmosphere and crowd. I came for happy hour, though the happy hour prices, at the cheapest, are $8. However, the wines are good quality and come with heavy pours.
This place seems like a mix between stuck-up TriBeCa and your typical Irish soccer bar. Talk about identity crisis. With that being said, the crowd itself was laid back and cool.
The food was good. The drink selection was large. It is pricey, but I'd venture back again.
My wife and four friends stumbled upon this restaurant while in the area. It had good reviews on Yelp and they took our large group in with no issues or reservations. We sat on a high, long table and each ordered different things. My wife, one friend, and I split a cheese plate and meats. We asked the server to surprise us and he brought us out an amazing (and diverse) selection of cheeses and meats (Including boar meat!). My Delaware friend ordered their meat ball sandwich and said it was the best sandwich she had in her life. By the looks of the sandwich, it was hard to believe, but when my Delaware friend says she loves something, it is objectively the best! They also have an expensive beer, wine, and CIDER list. If you're in the area, stop by Terroir Tribeca!
The staff here is so friendly and beyond accommodating. We came on a packed Wednesday night and there was no room anywhere, but somehow they made it happen. We waited for 5 minutes as they set the table up and in the meantime they offered us menus to read over and wine while we waited.
Large selection of wine. They have something for everyone. A whole binder full of pages and pages of wines. Everything you would want from a wine bar. This place make you want to cozy up with a glass of red wine and never leave.
We had a great charcuterie and cheese board. Our server took care of picking out what meats and cheeses we got because we weren't very particular, we loved his recommendations. We also got the beet risotto balls, fennel and goat cheese bruschetta as well as the hazelnut hummus bruschetta. So much flavor in the best way possible. Compliments to the chef. They have sweet and savory down to perfection.
The crowd there was fun, friendly and lively. The prices are very reasonable. Just wish the portions were a little bigger because the food was so damn good.
I would recommend this spot to friends and family. Great place for a group of friends or on a date. They have some bigger tables for large group or events.
super cute wine bar. get the oysters! the beet salad was pretty good too. I got the all natural, organic red wine from Italy and surprisingly it was pretty good. service was a little slow but the food was good.
T squared….
I love your wine selection but i think i appreciate your cheese even more. I have yet to try your $1 happy hour oysters…but i will be back for you, you slippery sliders…
The wine book is full of character as is the entire restaurant. Pop culture, presidents, music, movies and icons are referenced – even Santa makes an appearance!
My friend and i usually split the 3 (or 5) cheese plate with a meat selection while cleaning the complimentary baby bowl of olives. The cheese plates are accompanied with the standard raisin bread and fig or date jam that most French Wine bars provide. What i like are the candied nuts that they offer – sweet touch (pun intended)…
I've had the crispy brussel sprouts and they are not the best CBS that i've enjoyed, although well worth an order if somebody wants to share. Other things i've tried include the plate of butters. Yes PLATE of butters i said – and a wonderful variation at that! My favorite of the three was the butter that resembles a less-whipped sour cream with more texture.
The menu can be pricey depending on what you are in the mood for, although the wine list is really so abundant and fun that this place is one of my fav wine bars in the city.
As far as wine bars/cocktail lounges in Tribeca go, Terroir is one of my favorites. It's trendy without giving off that pretentious vibe.
The most notable thing about Terroir is the people who work there. They are wine experts and really understand the entirety of the menu. They know what cheese/dish will pair best with which wine and can thoroughly explain any question that we threw at them. It's parallel to the knowledge of those who work at a winery and extremely impressive.
The selection of wine and cheese are what I would recommend coming here for. Selecting your cheese plate is one of the coolest things you can do. The other food good but Terroir is a place where you get the chance to expand your wine and cheese palette. I recommend taking it.
