Maybe you all don't understand but this spot is what's up! As Benjamin already pointed out, from the outside it looks like any old NYC Deli. As a matter of fact I've wandered in and out of there barely paying attention to the deli counter. One morning something must have caught my eye because I discovered that this place is no ordinary deli. The place is Trini owned and operated and they sell the most flavorful Trini food in the area (probably the only Trini food in the area but that's beside the point). Curry potatoes, chicken dishes, veggies and more for around $5-6. Huge portions. Tasty, fresh and filling. Support your local Trini deli. You'll be glad you did.
A friend and I stopped in about 11pm on a Saturday night and were very pleased with how friendly both the guy behind the salad bar and the cashier were. The salad bar is pretty impressive (stuffed grape leaves????) and affordable. I got the "small" salad for $5.95, which was quite substantial once the toppings were added. It also comes with a free bag of chips or drink – great quick meal!
This is a nice place to grab some Caribbean to go during lunch time. They usually have curried everything to quickly send you on your way for less than $10 depending on whether you get a plate or roti.
If you prefer to stick around while you eat, hopefully you can be one of the lucky ones to score one of the four seats upfront at the window looking out.
Breakfast on-the-go at Terry's is okay at two separate visits for which this review spawns from. One breakfast sandwich was a slab of 1 lb. ham with butter to equate at an utter dismay of $5.00 while a subsequent visit brought on a package of chocolate macaroons at $4.00 and a onion bagel toasted with butter at $.85 was both equally okay. Both breakfast sandwich and bagel was overly greasy filled with fat and high cholesterol content. Servers appear rather disgruntled when working the grill as they do not fully acknowledge patrons to take orders where present.
Their takeout menu is full of misleading marketing sales puffery for claim unsupported: "Terry's features the finest quality in gourmet food." Big MEH!
