Texas Roadhouse
“The credit can't all go to the rolls though, as the whipped honey-cinnamon butter which they serve with it is just as awesome!”
“It's a lot of food (complementary bread and peanuts) so depending on your appetite I would say skip the appetizer.”
“For apps we had the Grilled Shrimp, Boneless Chicken wings, and Cheese Fries they were all really good especially the shrimp.”

You don't come here for a "fancy steak" restaurant experience. You come here for a "stuff yourself on cheap steak until you question all your life choices" experience. Where else can you get a steak combination with two huge sides, unlimited peanuts, unlimited bread and cinnamon butter, and a drink for under $20? No where but Texas Roadhouse. For the price, quality and service (which is spectacular at this location, btw) I will definitely come back.
I was expecting old homestead, but I also wasn't expecting it to taste like absolutely nothing either. We went on a Saturday night, 20 minute wait, the front is set up for you to pick out your own steak, nothing to me looked appealing, so we decided for them to pick it out when we decided that we wanted to eat. The place has peanut shells all over the floor, when you get to your table they bring you a huge container with peanuts, I don't know what peanuts has to do with steak…but whatever. They also bring you warm buns with a weird cinnamon butter, I wasn't expecting to taste something sweet when I bit into it, wasn't my cup of tea, but they kept bringing it over to the table. I ordered for appetizers, the boneless wings and japaleno poppers, both taste like they were something packaged, not made in the restaurant, and too spicy for my liking. We finally ordered the steaks, I had the New York strip, medium rare, because I already know with places like this, if you order medium you will get it well done. For sides I have the Caesar salad, and mash potatoes. The salad was really good! The steak was tasteless! Flavorless, as if they didn't even put salt on it. The mash tasted like cafeteria food! Huge disappointment! As i said, I didn't expect a high end steak house but I also didn't expect for it to taste as horrible as it did! Never again! For the people who have great reviews….they must not get out much.
Very crowded and I could see why–bargain early bird and midweek specials; exceptional service, good ribs and steaks and coffee.
The house salad was a loser and the rolls had too much butter or oil, so skip those.
This was one of our go-to restaurants when we were dieting for our wedding because they have a ton of well balanced, healthy options, and since it's a chain, the nutritional information is readily available. The food is inexpensive and really good. They may not be using the best quality of meat, but they make up for it by cooking it perfectly. We love coming here and munching on the free peanuts!
Solid steak Rest.
10X better than outback
Service can be sketchy
Willing to take something back if not right
The Chili is my favorite item on the menu
Does every place with Texas in the name have to serve up sodium laden food? First the Texas Steakhouse, now this. The food here was not as egregiously over-seasoned as the latter and was still quite edible, I wish the would take a step back with the salt as it killed what was almost a really pleasant meal.
My parents took me here when I was visiting home, they seemed to really like it and smartly called ahead for seating. Walked in to the peanut shell covered floor and cozy, wood covered interior complete with mounted animal heads and thought, "I'm kind of digging this, I hope the food's good." The golden rolls and grilled meat smell had me ready to order as soon as we were seated.
The rolls are pretty good, not on the scale of Olive Garden breadsticks or Red Lobster biscuits (ie- something I would go out of my way to eat over the other food), but no can deny the delicious appeal of fresh, hot bread. Pretty decent beer selection and an assortment of mixed drinks as well, its like a Southern themed Applebee's as far as the bar situation.
Went in for the combo of ribeye and grilled shrimp because I couldn't decide and also because I thought I should get some variety of steak at a steakhouse. I got the green beans and loaded baked potato as sides, added mushrooms as a steak topper which proved to be a big mistake. The steak came out and was well cooked, but the mushrooms were so damn salty I had to push most of them aside. The green beans were also a huge disappointment, like eating something brined in seawater. The potato and steak were the saving graces here, the shrimp coming in as another disappointment as they were rather small (scrimps not shrimps) and again, overseasoned.
The service was great, our waiter was attentive and helpful. Refills were plentiful and he stopped by the table many times to check on us. Texas Roadhouse boils down to a differently themed Outback Steakhouse, and their quality is about the same. I know I'll end up coming back here as its found its way onto my parents' go-to dinner list and hey, I can't turn down a free meal. Next time I'll know what dishes to avoid.
The service is always great, and I've never had anything I didn't like here. Their rolls are delicious. They're served with a sweet butter. The pulled pork sandwhich is delicious. Their ribs, steak, and mashed potatoes are always perfect.
Finally got to try out the steakhouse chain that puts other steakhouse chains to shame. People even claim the Western themed restaurant's bread is better than that of the almighty Cheddar Bay Biscuit.
I am here to say that both claims have been deemed unfounded.
Let's start out with the bread (and most importantly the cinnamon butter). The bread was light with a slight crisp to the outside. It came out very hot, as well. The whipped cinnamon butter was very delicious. Excellent, but nothing I would die for. Unlike the venerable Cheddar Bay Biscuit, I wouldn't even bother to try to duplicate it at home. There is a long list of crimes I would commit for a good Cheddar Bay Biscuit recipe. I'm even satisfied with poor replica of the Red Lobster favorite, which I serve to family every Thanksgiving.
Other freebies include salted, roasted peanuts.
Being the dealseeker that I am, I couldn't help but opt for the one of the 11 $8.99 early bird specials. I went with a small sirloin with vegetables and mashed potatoes for the two sides.
I couldn't wait to see the steak that would put Outback to shame. Perhaps it was cooked how a real steak should be cooked; way better than the average home chef would do. Mahogany brown outside, pink inside. No grill marks if it's cooked under the intense heat of a salamander. Black means burnt. Technically, you burning those parts of the steak if you have grill marks.
I was very disappointed. What came out instead was a steak that looked like a beginner with an underpowered gas grill would serve. Gray outside highlighted with bush league grill marks. Hey, at least it had the criss cross much revered by general home chef cooking shows. It's good for presentation, right?
The texture and flavor was pretty good. Granted, it was tender throughout, but the outside didn't have that extra kick flavor or texture-wise.
All in all, $8.99 for bread with cinnamon butter, peanuts, a steak and two sides is a great deal. It's great for a fill-up while the super helpful staff caters to you.
However, the food is not so amazing that I could recommend it to people hankering for a good steak, especially for anything other than the $8.99 deal.
