“Their RED CURRY with chicken is probably one of the best ones out there.”
“I could taste the seasoning and the basil, but the best part had to be kick I got from the spice.”
“The chicken curry is bursting with flavor, the fried rice has nice texture and a good mix of vegetables, and the pad thai is on point.”

TL;DR first: 4 stars for food, 2 for ambience
So the first floor of this joint looks like a regular janky takeout kitchen, but you can also order and take your food upstairs where there is a nicely painted room with tables. However, said upstairs floor also had a fly/mosquito hovering around which was very uncomfortable.
Tofu with peanut sauce was delicious, tofu with chili sauce was delicious, and Thai iced tea was delicious. A tad pricey, but I did have some left over.
Why did that much food take 30 mins to prepare on a Tuesday evening? I'm not sure.
I would love to have the food again, but I would order ahead of time and get it to go.
Price has increased to about $7 or $8.50 for lunch specials meanwhile the food portion is smaller. Food is still decent though even though there is only a limited menu during lunch hours.
Note about the star rating: this is definitely not something I'd drive out of the way for, but it is 4 stars GIVEN ITS LOCATION. It is definitely some of the best Asian food you'll find in the Newark area.
I've ordered take out from here three times. There are on seamless and GrubHub, which is nice. Their green curry with pork is solid. They give a lot of meat, but are fairly sparse on the veggies. The curry itself is flavorful and the portion is very generous (it served as both lunch and dinner for me). Their massaman curry is also tasty, although when you get it, the entire top layer is just grease, which is kind of frightening. I just spoon it off though and then eat it, no big deal. I've also tried their pad see ew, which I really liked; broad flat noodles in savory sweet brown sauce.
My friends have also tried the pineapple fried rice and pad thai (which of course means I got to try it too). Everyone agreed that those dishes are solid. For comparison, one of my friends actually said that he thinks the pineapple fried rice here is better than at Spice Thai in Montclair.
My absolute favorite thing from here though is their Thai iced tea. It's amazing. I've had cravings for just the iced tea alone.
Solid take out food, although they do have space for dining in. They accept credit cards.
I had the basil eggplant with tofu at House of Thai for take out. I would definitely just recommend this restaurant for take out lunch/dinner because the inside is pretty tiny. The food was decent, not the best thai I've had, but not bad by any means. If you live or work in the area its good for a quick bite. They were extremely fast in preparing our order.
Food: good
Service: very good
Ambiance: ok
So over all this is good place to grab a quick cheap lunch in an area where food options ca be limited.
They have the usual 1 item and 2 item specials for 6.95 and 8.95.
They usually have the same menu everyday with a daily special or two. The food is decent.
They have small tables set up so you can have chat with friends as you eat.
The place usually gets pretty busy during lunch time.
Overall not bad
Changing my review to a 3– It's just less accommodating with special requests for lunch. Also, food quality and taste has gone down a bit- I find myself having to add some of the hot sauce or some soy to get flavor but then it changes the authenticity.
Good food, great price, in a slightly questionable atmosphere. Cash only, but the prices can't be beat for good Thai food. Service is friendly though a bit hard to understand. There is no menu to speak of, so just point at what looks good. The curry chicken dishes are always great and just perfectly spicy.
Fast, cheap and easy. $11 gets you a full plate of three items generously portioned and freshly prepared. The interior/ exterior of the space leaves much to be desired, but the place is clean and the service is decent so that's what matters. It's a buffet style service, and they have about 6 different items to choose from daily. We ordered the chicken curry, spring rolls, and fried rice. I appreciated that they didn't skimp on spiciness level. And while my meal was packed with flavor, I noticed that the chicken was a tad dry for my liking.
In any case, it's a solid lunch option if you're looking for a good, speedy meal on a budget.
