Always end up coming here because I can't say no to their $6 mixed drinks!! They have a great selection of mixed drinks, mojitos, and wines. Some of the mixed drinks are pretty strong so you'll def end up leaving with a buzz at least! Some of my favorite drinks are The Little Giant, woo woo, and the long island thai iced tea!
I always get the panang curry when i come here! It is reallly flavorful and they give a lot of the curry so you'll definitely be full from that! My friends recently got the tofu and chicken pad thai and they were reallyyyyy displeased with it and felt the chicken was really dry. They barely ate their dish while i finished everything completely LOL So i definitely recommend the curry but not the pad thai 🙁
Ultimately i feel like people generally come here for the drinks more than the food but i personally like both! The service is goood as everyone is really nice.
This review is based on drinks and service….came here for a quick drink before a show and overall, mixed feelings about this place.
My friends and I got seated fairly quickly since there weren't too many people in the restaurant. Took awhile for someone to come by and talk to us. After we finally got the menu and such, we all decided to order the Long Island Thai Iced Tea. While our drinks took some time to make, we try asking our waitress if it was possible to split the checks. Instead of telling us yes/no, she simply ignored us until the drinks came. When the drinks came, she stared at each us in a not friendly way and told us no. Which was fine, but I believe there shouldn't be a need for attitude?
As for the drink, it was alright. Tasted like a standard Long Island with a ton of alcohol in it. There wasn't any taste of Thai Iced Tea and overall, the drink didn't deliver its title.
If you want to try some interesting cocktails, swing by this place. They got lychee martini and other cute sounding drinks that may be worth trying. Just don't expect super good service.
$6 drinks? what a deal! They have a lot of different mixed drinks. I ordered the little giant cocktail.. a bit strong, but good. Would come back here to try the other drinks.
For entree, I ordered the red curry with chicken…wasn't sure how good it would be at this place, but it was pretty flavorful. I would order this again next time. They give you a big portion and the price is reasonable.
I have gotten chicken pad thai here before too, but I don't think it was as good as the curry.
Great place to sit and chat with friends. Their drinks are really good for only $6 and the food prices are reasonable. Only thing is their mock duck is not good at all. I ordered it because I saw a picture on Yelp and it looked really good but avoid it! It tastes nothing close to real duck. I didn't pay much attention to it and just ordered. The curry sauce is good and the greens but that's about it.
I came here with Nika and Lapin for a quick dinner after work. Nika and I both been here and since we were craving Thai, we figured it would be a good idea. We ordered a crispy sampler of spring roll, shrimp roll, curry puff and fried tofu for the table. Everything was good except in my opinion the fried tofu. I was not a fan but Nika and Lapin enjoyed it. Lapin ordered the Drunken Noodles, I ordered Basil Fried Rice and Nika ordered a curried beef dish. The food was on point for standard Thai fare. They also have a happy hour special, we each got a couple of drinks. I got one Long Island Iced Tea and I was pretty much done for the night. The service was a bit slow and we also had to ask for refills. The restaurant had windows that opened to flood the place with air but they apparently have no AC as they only had a couple of fans scattered about but that place was HOT! I felt cooler outside than in the restaurant. Definitely save this place for a cooler day.
One of the best inexpensive gems for Thai food…instantly added to the list of favorites. Really enjoyed my Thai iced tea and pad Thai (as basic b' as that makes me). Their red curry was also solid with a nice heat that was enjoyable rather than overwhelming. The restaurant has a large airy feel with front windows that open onto the street making for a fairly relaxed dining experience considering it's hot location in the East Village. The service was fast and friendly. I would gladly return and recommend especially if you're in the area.
Okay $6 for a variety of drinks?! Count me in! Where else can you find this good of a deal in the city?
This place is a great place to grab dinner and start of the night. I ordered the Tofu Pad See Ew, they were very generous on the tofu portion.
My friends and I stayed for a couple hours, majority of the time trying most the drinks on the drinks menu. The staff were extremely friendly and did not rush us to leave at all.
I can wait to visit this spot again!
Stopped into Thailand Cafe after seeing "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" at the nearby Regal Cinema as the idea was NOT to have a burger once again. I was craving some pad Thai and will admit that I was looking for a specific place that I had been to in the past but for some reason could not pinpoint where it had been located so after some walking around my colleague and I noticed The Thailand Cafe so over we went.
The place has a couple of dozen tables and it is very neatly laid out which was nice to see. Very good lighting and clean which is always a nice thing to observe when you walk into a newer space. There is a small bar in the rear left corner if you needed to order a beer or a glass of wine and today all I was doing was eating. The wait staff were very attentive and within minutes of sitting down I our menus were in front of us along with water and it was time to peruse the menu. They had a special and I opted for a Chicken Pad Thai since its a favored dish when I am in such a restaurant and the special also came with a couple of spring rolls and a soup which I don't recall the name of at this time. The food was prepared very quickly and served with a smile which is always pleasant to find being the case.
Overall this was a very tasty dish and my dining companion enjoyed his blend of spicy rice and soup as well. He said it would be nice to come here once again if in the area and since we shall be soon enough that will be the plan. When I asked how long they were open I was told only a couple of months. It was such a reasonable check and positive experience that I hope they do well. By the time we left the restaurant a larger crowd had gathered so I think the word is getting around. I'm going back like I said and I hope you give them a chance as well. There didn't appear to be any sort of free or paid WiFi for those who like to study their phones during dinner. I just like to check in on Swarm and Yelp so I had to use my own meager data plan. No big.
