  1. I came here to meet up with my brothers and keep coming back – almost weekly now! It is really great for dinner or drinks.

The bar area is nice and the dining area is cozy yet substantial- you might feel like you are in Ireland with the authentic decor!

Food and service is GREAT too!
Prices are fair and value is good.

  2. Let's get something straight, this is a nice place to go for happy hour. However, if you order take-out, good luck bringing home what you ordered. The food is ok. Twice they have screwed up my take out order. Ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and got a plain chicken wrap..like really plain! Nothing in it…

My biggest beef with this place was them asking a friend to leave because "SHE" (an older bartender) was offended by his "FOUR" star review on Yelp…FOUR stars!!!!!!!!!! …just because it mentioned a safety hazard and that the bartender was "older". In other words, should have known better than to dip delicate glass into frozen ice to make drinks.

  3. Can't believe I have lived a town over and never tried this place! Comfort food is all over their menu. We started off with the corned beef egg rolls which were very good and came with a very spicy mustard. Wayyyy too hot for me. Would clear out someone's sinus's instantly! Next I opted for the fish and chips. Huge portion, not too greasy and not too much breading. Staff was friendly and helpful. Restaurant was busy and clean. Will be back to try some other menu items.

  4. Delicious food; juicy mussels and yummy salmon with veggies and rice. Friendly and attentive service, great inner ambiance balancing well between a bar and a restaurant. Definitely coming back.

  5. Thatcher's is a cozy Irish pub. The decor is somewhat random but cute. For example each place mat has a different picture. It's entertaining to look at all the knick knacks on the wall while waiting for your food.

To start my girlfriend and I ordered the Guinness wings. They were sweet but not overly sweet like a honey BBQ style wing can be sometimes. For the main course I ordered the Reuben which comes with Corned Beef. My girlfriend and her family had recommended the Rueben, claiming that it was the best Corned Beef. I would have to agree!  To top it all off we went with the cheese cake which was drizzled with caramel sauce.

The back room of Thatcher's does not have TVs so you may miss some of the game. However, the front bar has several large TVs and a shuffle board table. I wouldn't mind coming back here for a few drinks just at the bar too!

  6. Thatcher McGhee Irish Pub and Eatery has a cool Irish name, and does a good job at its game. The place was crowded last Saturday evening.  The barroom was noisy, and the dining room next door was busy, but not filled to capacity. We were seated within minutes after a large party left.  The service was friendly and efficient.

The menu is diverse with most of the usual suspects, plus ethnic offerings to appeal to the Corn Beef and Cabbage folks. We were there for dinner and did not drink any brew.  I found the food to be decent (French Onion Soup) a solid beefy stock with a load of soft onions and gooey cheese on top.  My 4 Slider app came was my entry.  They were okay, with sautéed Onions and Pickles within, but ranged from medium to well done.  The French Fries were the frozen extra crispy type that have that coating put on at the factory to add crunch.  I am not a fan of that approach to fries as it adds calories and taste unnatural.  Others seem to like them.

As an older Irish Pub-esque place it does a decent job and appears to have a strong following.  While the food is adequate, it is not good enough to be a draw for me unless someone wants to go there.

They should consider shortening their name to simply, "Thatcher McGhee's."

  7. **** Update! **** During my visit tonight, because of my Yelp review of this establishment a month or so ago,  I was confronted by a bartender (who I had mentioned in my review) who asked me to LEAVE and told me I wasn't welcome back.  She told me that I hurt her feelings by calling her "older" and that it was uncalled for.  Ok, saying older "could" have been taken the wrong way, but calling someone older isn't derogatory, mean, or anything of the same. She admitted what had happened, but I should have "pulled her aside and voiced my concern about the glass in the ice bin" and not have used Yelp to call her out. Um, I'm a patron, not your boss.. Isn't that what Yelp is for?  I'm not gonna call an employee out – that's not my job.  I'm sorry I hurt your feelings by calling you older,  but my review is and was on point and truthful.. And not to mention, was a glowing review of this place.  What if the inevitable happened??  So, maybe in the end, I saved some poor shlub swallowing some glass.

My advice, to the older woman bartender is learn how to take criticism and respect the reviews myself and others who use Yelp provide. If the owner of this establishment would like to contact me regarding this update, by all means, do.

  8. A group of us came here on a Friday night with intentions of sitting in the bar area to have a drink and get some appetizers. Since there were 7 of us we realized we would be more comfortable in the dining area- no biggie (or so you would think). When I went to the hostess stand to seat us, she was so adamant that our entire party had to be there before she could seat any of us and those are the "very strict rules her boss has her follow". I felt like I was being reprimanded. It would be one thing if the place was packed but the dining room was completely empty! One of our friends wasn't going to be there for another 15 minutes or so and she said she couldn't promise there would be room for her when she got there and that we would have to give up our extra chair- so bizarre.

We probably would have taken our business elsewhere because of this but we had somewhere to be so we decided to stay. Our server was very nice and the food was good so our experience did get better once we were seated but I can see them losing business from their strict seating rules. Perhaps they should tell their hostesses to be a bit more welcoming.
