I recently ate at this new, trendy restaurant on Hillside Ave. in Williston Park, NY….centrally located to Roslyn, Garden City, Mineola, Herricks, Westbury and New Hyde Park.
Atmosphere: The restaurant has a great, open layout with a medium sized bar to the left that you can grab a drink with friends or while waiting for a table.
Starters: we were seated promptly and they start the meal by providing toasted bread in garlic and oil…really good, but very dangerous (in a good way)! The menu has mostly meat and fish options, but a nice selection of appetizers and main courses.
Apps: We went with the seafood tower with Extra Large/Jumbo shrimp cocktail ($7.00 each) and 2-dozen Westcoast Oysters. We also had the Rock Shrimp and Grilled Octopus….all were winners with the Rock Shrimp as the star!
Main Course: the table ordered the following; NY Sirloin Steak, Memphis-style BBQ Ribs and Peppered-crusted Tuna (from the Raw Bar). Tuna was fresh, Sirlion was cooked perfectly and juicy, Filet was like butter and the Ribs were tender and saucy (so says my daughter).
Dessert: the table shared Italian Cheesecake and a Cannoli, both were worth ordering!
Overall: The staff was very attentive and professional. In fact, since we kept ordering so many Oysters, the chef came out from the back to chat with us and the manager even checked in with us during the meal. Good, fun atmosphere and tasty food. Prices are high, but I think this is a good addition to the restaurants in the area, I'll be back! Enjoy!
I came here with my boyfriend for Valentine's Day this year and it was the perfect balance of fancy and casual. The food was great, the service was pretty good but I'll cut some slack for it being valentine's day..
I ordered the roasted chicken breast, which was not my first choice but they ran out of the lamb chops. The chicken was great, it was cooked perfectly and thankfully for me it was boneless. My boyfriend ordered the Cajun spiced steak and he is still talking about it two weeks later about how great it was. I tried it, it wasn't too spicy but I'm sure after the whole steak it would have been too much for me. For appetizers we got the garlic bread in a cheese fondue, also amazing and we shared mac and cheese. It was the perfect level of cheesy goodness. He wanted to get a dessert but the desserts weren't anything spectacular for the prices.. just ordinary stuff you can get anywhere.
I also liked that they had heart balloons and a valentines day playlist – whatever I'm corny.
Best food and worst service I have had in along time so if they get their act together they could achieve greatness; on the other hand they could go away. Food 4.5. Service 1.5
BBG is at trendy new spot and I don't mean that in a negative way. It very much unlike other Long Island restaurants and more like the new city restaurants. The cool space does come with a price; at times it was almost too loud.
The service problems seemed to be systemic and start to finish. Started at check in when they said our table would be just a few minutes and that is OK; but when they seat the next 2 groups of the same size as the walk in, I am like WTF… But that was minor compared to the rest of the night. We waited for nearly 40 minutes for our appetizers which were 2 salads and the spreads, but the bigger issue was that we got the "their coming right out" line for fifteen minutes and had to get angry to get action. The mains cane faster, but still below par As it got later and the crowd thinned we got better attention but by then the experience had been ruined. The icing, and this was funny, was the pen the waiter gave us to fill in the tip and sign our name did not work. Ok enough whining.
On to the The food. Started with the Greek Salad and the Chop Salad. Both we good and plenty to share. The spreads did not impress. The main courses, on the other hand were amazing. The BBG burger was one of the best I have had in a long time and the magic was in the meat not all the toppings. As well the chicken was very flavorful, but the ribs stole the show. The meat fell off the bone and had a delicious barbecue sauce and was served on a bed of crispy stick fries. We finished with this huge piece of chocolate layer cake (not sure what it was called) and we said no way we could kill it, but it was that good and we succeeded.
The food will bring me back for another try, but another poor service performance and I will be done.
Note they do have Valet parking.

Service was spot on tonight. Starting from the girl who seated us right through to the goodbyes at the end. Ribs and burger were also excellent again. The steaks look good. That will be on the menu for the next visit. Warning however, word of mouth is they can keep you waiting a while for a table. Updating to 4 stars
I've been wanting to come here for awhile, watching their place transform shortly after moving into this neighborhood. BBG layout, decor, & atmosphere is trendy and warm. The white walls and clean lines makes it feel a bit sophisticated. The colors remind me a bit of the whiteness in Santorini. I think our waiter even told us that there was a tiny bit of Greek influence in this place. Noise level was on the loud side with the music and everyone talking, but it wasn't that loud that we felt the need to shout across the table to be heard.
We made reservations so we didn't have to wait at all. I definitely recommend doing that because it was extremely packed during dinner time. If you are waiting, they've got an awesome full bar. My friends did that last time and their garlic bread was complimentary only at the bar!
Our waiter was very attentive. We had ordered a bottle of red which later, he happened to find out that they were out so we ordered a different one and he comped our Roasted Garlic Bread (which were crispy, buttery, garlicky and delicious!)! Thank you for that! The crabcake was very moist and yummy and had a nice crust on top. Our medium rare porterhouse for two was phenomenal – so juicy and tender and flavorful! My friend had ordered the Cajun Style Sirloin Steak since we don't normally see that at other places. The cajun spice wasn't overpowering; the hint of it was surprisingly really good. We also tried the Memphis Style BBQ Ribs and they were finger-lickin' good. The meat fell off the bones so easily. Presentation of all the dishes we had were superb. Price is on the high-side, but you're getting quality food! I wish they offered a small side dish with your entree, but to be honest, one entree was more than enough for me. I'm impressed BBG! Can't wait to come back for more!
Let's say I had high expectations going in based on previous reviews of Yelp as well as friends that have dined there … Also knowing they own Kyma I thought it would be amazing right away .
Start by saying the place is tiny , a tiny go to for locals and nothing more than that . No reason to drive here for the food there are a hundred places before you get here for the money that are so much better .
Service is bad, horrible slow and before you finish your drinks and or food is taken away with out you looking by wait staff that does not understand English they are just told to clean clean clean … Very sad when your paying 18 for a martini and your not even done with it and they clear it off the table .
Food… Greek salad ehh same old big tomatoes with two blocks of feta and onions and cucumber nothing amazing – the crab cake it's ok was actually one of the only things that we somewhat enjoyed . Shrimp cocktail well it's shrimp cocktail can't really screw that up big large shrimp placed on a nicely presented platter .
The worst ( octopus ) wow like rubber had to remake it three times as I requested and it still was horrible tasted like a salt shaker….
Petite filet and long bone both cooked okay however no decent accompaniments to compliment it – there house steak sauce tastes like bbq sauce it's pretty terrible they had nothing else to offer but ketchup … Not using ketchup on a 90$ steak !
Sautéed spinach and grilled asparagus more like a pot of oil … Not good at all ….
They tried to make due on the night and offer us they're famous chocolate layer cake ……. Pathetic dining experience in what I thought and was hoping for a delicious and happy one .
Very nice atmosphere in a neighborhood that doesn't really come to mind whether looking for a place to eat.
The service was excellent and attentive. Overall, the food was good and above average for a steakhouse in New York.
For appetizers, had the garlic toast/fondue (complimentary and was awesome), octopus (very tender and well done). Also had a try of their zucchini chips (ok, but not a fan) and their spread sampler (again, ok – but not something I would order again).
Main course was the steak — ordered the porterhouse for 2. It was done exactly as ordered (medium) and was one of the better steaks I have had. Sides included mushrooms and a basket of their french fries which complimented the steak well – no issues with them.
In all, if your seeking an alternative to Peter Luger, this place will be a great choice. It has Greek influence in its offerings which I like. This place had caught my interest and is keeping it for now as I am intrigued and want to try the other items they have to offer.
