  1. So, Halal guys was pretty damn good.

It's a bit different from the "regular" Halal carts I get from (even though these guys are supposedly the "original"?)

Anyway, it's good — but a bit different looking and tasting.

The sauces are great – both white and hot. Just beware of the hot, it is… pretty damn hot — and I'm normally good with hot sauces (love spicy food in general).

  2. It's been several months for my love of The Halal Guys' cooking. A little bit of a let down from the last handful of times I visited. Maybe it's the realization from waking up from all the hype, but the let down is from changes in service. Could also be the reason for a lack of a line. The total opposite of the Manhattan location.

There use to be two to three guys stationed there and they were all the rave in friendliness and you could tell it was authentically and passionately done and served. Meaning you could order a pita with gyro meat or chicken for $4 and if you're lucky get a falafel on the side for free just by asking and they'd say no problem. They would also offer friendly service and try to connect with you on light gestures. Now there's just one dude and he seems like he's JUST doing his job serving. Anyway, I guess change of service, no problem. I recently paid $5 for a combo pita (chicken and gyro meat) and an extra $1 for two cold falafels. Gyros/Chicken/Combo in a pita are now up to $5 now. The dishes are up from $6 to $7 and do you still get a free can of soda like it once was?

The chicken is still soft and the gyro meat 3.5 of 5 stars in taste. Without the white sauce and hot sauce the meat is clean tasting but needs more flavor, not bad-it is good, just better tasting meat for the hype in it's name. Even adding some onions doesn't help. It's for those who like a bit of extra meat. This time and at this location Halal Guys gets my stamp of Over-Rated.

And did the pita or meat portion seem smaller or is it my imagination?

Did things change or is it a different vendor with the same name?

  3. A surprising find. It definitely looks like the real deal and has a line that supports its authenticity. I will write an update review once I have a chance to eat it!

There are two halal carts between this Halal Guys stand, so make sure you come to the right one.

  4. The food at the cart is so much better than in the actual store in Midtown in my opinion .

The guy is super fast! He has to be ! The amount of people that come here for lunch is rediculous. On top of that , this truck is located right by Laguardia Community College , so students flock here so do workers.

If you love halal as much as I do, you wouldnt mind the commute!

    I would recommend !
