  1. We have been to the carts at Mid-town multiple times over the years and been to this location for a few times now. Doesn't matter which location you go to, the food is consistent with load of white sauce!! I always get the gyro platter while the hubs always get chicken platter. This location has regular ($7.99+tax) and small ($6.99+tax) and you can up protein for $2, or falafel or extra sauce for $0.50.

There are a few tables for you to enjoy your delicious food and this place takes credit card (versus the mid town version is cash only).

  2. I've been getting food from their 53rd Street street cart location for years. When I heard they had opened up a small store, I knew I had to stop by one day. It was smaller than I thought it would be – just a counter to order and a couple of tables with a handful of chairs. It is slightly more expensive here than at the cart to cover their overhead. $8 for a large platter of meat and rice, or $7 for a pita with meat. However, the food is exactly the same as the cart. Same great taste. You will not be disappointed.

  3. The meat tastes different here than in the carts.  Less seasoned maybe?  But definitely not the same as the carts.  Overall the food tastes alright for the price and it's located in a convenient location but I prefer the carts more.

  4. So here's the famous halal guys store front that is supposed to be the same as 56th and 6th halal guys cart. I used to love going to the carts during late nights and getting the chicken lamb combo platter and load it up with white sauce. I ordered the chicken lamb combo which also comes with 4 pieces of pita and salad. I feel like this store platter wasn't as good as the cart one and also, the quantity was less. I was still full after eating my platter from the store, but not in the same way as I would be from the cart days. It was also interesting that the store gives you extra white sauce in packeted style. The lamb and the chicken was still good though, but I'm not sure what was missing. It just tasted a lot more fresh and better from the cart on 56th and 6th. This is why I couldn't give the store a 5 star, but I would rate their carts a 5 star instead. Nonetheless, it was still good and I still finished my whole platter. Might not be a bad thing that they lessened the quantity actually.

  5. I love stopping by the Halal guys for takeaway lunch during the week. There are a few seats inside if you feel like dining in but I prefer taking my food to one of the nearby parks.

In my opinion, this is the best halal food out there. It's reasonably priced too! I always get the small combo platter, which is still a large portion of rice, salad, chicken and beef, and pita slices. Top it off with white sauce, bbq sauce and hot sauce (watch out, the hot sauce is killer)!

  6. Convenient and delicious. I prefer the one on the upper west side but I love how it's on union square- super convenient for people who live on the lower east side.

    Taste- delicious as usual.

Cost- a dollar more than the one at the cart at the other location.

Ambiance- like a cafeteria and like 3 tables. It's probably best to take your food to go.

    Customer service- friendly.

Got the chicken over rice. I LOVE THE RICE and tender chicken. Rice was a little clumpy today but still delicious. You won't be disappointed if you like Mediterranean or Turkish food.

Thanks for reading and keep eating!

  7. Very efficient operation ran here. These guys have a system that is simple and flawless! Menu is simple and keeps the line going, I ordered half and half w/ rice a little hot.. a little white and BOOM! I was ready to dig in, in no time! It's pretty chill spot with plenty of seating and power outlets if you need to top up. Location is near bars so a great place I asssume to stop by in on your way out. Overall the food was flavorful, even the rice. I'd definitely will be back!

First time having falafel here! Again, quality is hot and pleasant.

    Two thumbs up over here!

  8. Wow!  Heard so many people talk about The Halal Guys and I totally thought it was just hype until I tried it.  Nothing fancy, you order at the counter, find a seat, and grab your food when it is ready.

The food was full of flavor and a good balance of rice to meat to salad.  Plus, you can top it off with their delicious white sauce or red(spicy!!!) sauce.  Be careful with the red sauce because it was an unexpected amount of heat.

My friends got their food to-go and I liked that they have packages of the sauces for to-go orders too.

Great meal stop if you are visiting NYC.
