I ordered breakfast from here on Seamless this morning and it was delicious! I had the egg, turkey bacon, and cheese on a brioche bun which came with a side of home fries..pretty pricey but I would say it was worth it.
The only thing a little strange was that I never received a confirmation email that they received my order, which is usually what tells me that the order has been processed. After a half hour passed with no email, I called just to make sure. The girl who answered said it had already left. I think she thought I meant that it was taking too long which wasn't the case but regardless, it arrived with 10 minutes of our phone call. Would order from here again!
This place almost captures the spirit of what a great local cafe should be. Quaint, charming little storefront. Smells like fresh baked goods inside, shaded outdoor seating for those sunny brunch Sundays, a menu where everything really sounds delicious, from all-day breakfast to sandwiches and beverages. It begs for more than 3 stars.
However, the food just didn't quite get me there. We had a crab cake eggs Benedict, the huevos rancheros, and a grilled chicken mozzarella sandwich. in 1 word: dry. the English muffin on the eggs bene was burnt and the crab cake was dry. the huevos rancheros were not what I have come to expect (I am a big fan of huevos rancheros). it is a deconstructed version, with the beans, salsa and tortilla served on the side. ends up feeling more like scrambled eggs with chili on top, if you can call it chili… it was dry as well. big bread on the chicken sandwich screams for a more juicy breast or more dressing.
all in all I would go back and try something else on the menu, if only for the pleasant setting and friendly service.
3.5 stars. I really liked this place. It's so cute. I got the eggs Benedict with spinach and it was delicious. I was a little sad that the eggs were cooked all the way through and not runny at all but it was still really good. I also ordered a side of well done bacon that was not well done at all but that was still decent too. The only other problem was the service was kind of slow. Other than that it was a delicious brunch. My bf ordered the tacos with chorizo, eggs, and jalapeño peppers and they were soo good. It also came with really good sauces. I'd go back!
The wait was worth it! I was debating between the Saurizo and Wow Burger, and even though Brian, our server, had never had the Saurizo, something told me I should just go for it.
The scrumptuous Chorizo juices were just oozing out of this half pounder and all I could think about was how Chorizo is pretty much the best meat ever and nothing comes in comparison. You can't go wrong with a burger made with half chorizo and half chuck.
I want to come back and try the Hot Cocoa and the fresh pastries. Those muffins looked awesome!
Got muffins here: many variety and very fresh and tasty even at the end of the day. Need to try their other stuff. Cute place, very kind and knowledgeable staff.
This seems to be a popular place for brunch on the weekends since it's always packed, and it does have a great quaint and charming cafe quality. However the food should be better.
For some reason they have a number of Mexican inspired dishes on the menu so I decided to try the huevos rancheros for brunch. Eggs were dry, the chorizo was too chunky and the whole thing came with some soft tortillas wrapped in foil on the side so I basically had to make my own breakfast wrap out of it. Messy eating, not that good and not what huevos rancheros is supposed to be. Also, I ordered hot tea and got one of those stingy little tea cups, with no refills. I hate that since I'm a tea drinker.
Maybe other items on the menu are better. Next time I would go with more traditional fare like eggs Benedict or something. It's such a cute place I know I'll be back, but if I want a hearty breakfast (and a decent cup of tea) I'll be going to Stacks across the street!
Yelp is right on with a 3-star average, overall it is hit or miss.
Pros:
1. Muffins are good, maple bacon and chocolate chip banana are both good choices, but the bacon should be bits versus pieces with fat on them… and get them toasted and ask for the banana butter
2. Food is good, sandwiches are huge, French toast is good, corned beef is real
3. Outdoor seating is nice
4. Weekend brunch is tasty
5. BYOB!
Cons:
1. Service is awful, super slow, forgetful, impolite, rushed, scatter brained… They need a manager and one more waiter
2. Muffins ordered first and toasted should not come out after brunch and cold, and if they do, something should be done about it, like an apology or comp
3. They would clean the whole place, there are spiderwebs, dirty floors, awful bathroom, crumbs everywhere
4. Small place so be prepared to wait for brunch
Cute neighborhood eatery, known for brunch.
Atmosphere is homey with only a few tables inside and a few outside.
Service is a little scattered and I've been forgotten about while on hold several times, but very nice service at the table.
Food is good! They have everything – Benedict, omelettes, Pancakes. My Go To until recently was the corn beef hash. They use real, homemade corn beef and the hash had full pieces of corn beef, instead of just ground pieces.
I say until recently because is appears they have stopped putting potatoes in the hash and have increased the prices of this ($3.50 to $7.00 for a side) and other items across their menu. I asked about the price increase and they said they need to cover the cost of the hash, so I don't understand why they don't just add more potatoes – clearly potatoes are not very expensive and nobody wants just pieces of meat and no potatoes.
Our apartment used to order from here every weekend, since we live two doors down, but unfortunately I think this was our last order. $7.00 for four bites of corned beef is no longer worth it.
