While I wasn't too impressed with Pint sizes, the beer selection apparently changes twice a day. The bar setup is really nice. They have outdoor space too, which we couldn't really go to because we went here on a rainy Saturday.
We had a few beers, all very hoppy, regardless of the IBU rating.. For snacks we got the Devils on Horseback and Red Devil eggs… Both absolutely delicious (and definitely unhealthy)..
Service was excellent and staff here is very welcoming…
Cool people, great vibes, and an all around awesome place to grab a great bite to eat and some delicious drinks.
Not NYC pretentious. Not hipster Williamsburg-y. No blow outs and fake nails from Long Island (no offense to my people)
I got the oysters (delicious) hummus & pita (perfect) and buffalo shrimp taco (F-ING GEWD)
OMG AND THE POPCORN. I literally had to put a piece of gum in my mouth so i would stop eating them.
I really enjoyed going there. Very welcoming bar! The staff was nice and helpful. The waitress made us try few samples of beers to make sure we'll like our choice. They also offer lots of food appetizers. The pretzel was pretty tasty!
I highly recommend this place to hang out with friends and grab a bite!
Great happy hour spot, despite it being somewhat out of the way. Tons of beers on tap, and the beer+oyster happy hour special is a great deal. Space is somewhat cramped, but I like that there's an outdoor area for warm weather days. Friendly, attentive service despite it being busy during happy hour.
The food is pretty damn good here but it irks me that there are no French fries. French fries are the perfect thing to pair with beer. It's kind of a deal breaker.
I get it, they have homemade potato chips… But it's not the same.
With that being said, the Reuben I had was delicious. My friends got burgers and also the egg salad BLT and everyone was super pleased with the food. We also had a cheese plate to share and that was tasty with our drinks.
I did take off a star because my friend said the bathroom was ratchet. Luckily, I did not have to experience it.
Also, another star was taken off because it was a hot humid typical NYC Summer day when we went and the air conditioning was wack. In fact, I'm not even sure there was air conditioning.
Please, this is 2016 and the Upper East Side. Good air conditioning and a well kept bathroom are requirements for any bar/restaurant with minimal class.
Really homey, cozy bar right next to the Queensboro Bridge. Eating here brought me back to my times at UVA, when you could listen to Mumford and Sons and breathe in the fresh autumn air and everyone was just so darn friendly. Our waiter joked with us about selecting the right Pandora playlist, and we even bonded with another waiter about how insane the July 4th hot dog eating contest was. They did such a great job of making us feel welcome even though we had never previously stepped foot inside, and when our guy said, "Come again," I felt like he genuinely meant it.
Plus, the food was delicious and actually reasonably priced. Not just affordable for some bites off the happy hour menu. My green bean and arugula salad came with just the right amount of mustard-y dressing – the combination of crunchy green beans, pickled red onions, walnuts, and a hardboiled egg was genius. My cousin loved the cream cheese and lox croissant, a nice alternative to NYC's lox and cream cheese bagel. Of course we had to get the truffle cheddar pretzel. For two people who had just spent the past few minutes kayaking, the pretzel was the best thing we had eaten all weekend. Warm, crispy, with some chew, and paired with mustard and pub cheese.
They have an enormous variety of beer and cocktails to choose from. The place looks very tiny from the entrance (they actually have two entrances), but there's a spacious back room and then an outdoor patio.
Can't wait to come back and try more of the pub fare.
NEXT TIME: devils on horseback; red beet deviled eggs; garlic and parsley pretzel; tuna nicoise sandwich
its kind of a funky locations, next to the bridge, but inside its dark, moody, maybe a little funky. you can get popcorn with parmasean cheese on it. haha, it was good finger food, the cheese was excellent. the bartender asked if he could have fun with my drink, and i said go for it, and i got the most unique rye old fashioned iv ever had. cool right, a drink off the menu. and they have the giant icecubes, my favorite. if ur ever in the area…altho idk why, check it out.
This should really be 3.5, but obviously it's not an option. I had wanted to try the Jeffrey for a while, and happily my friends all agreed to make that our brunch destination for today (a Saturday). The place is really cute, nice outdoor space but cozy indoors as well. Drink selection was plentiful, and the food was actually really good also.
Why 3 stars, then? I HATE doing this – I really do. I've worked in hospitality and I know how difficult it is. But our waitress just wasn't good. She was fairly inattentive and forgetful, we would ask her for something and receive it 20 minutes later. A friend of mine was trying to order another drink for at least 10-15 minutes. And it wasn't even that busy in there, tables were full of course, but it's not like it was prime time.
Ultimately, upon receiving our bill there were some errors (a charge for something that was incorrect and we had sent back, not honoring happy hour prices for drinks), and also we had asked for some bread, or cheddar instead of American cheese, and there were upcharges. I totally understand that some restaurants upcharge for a different cheese, or charge for bread, but I always like to be informed of it so I can make a fully knowledgeable decision.
Ultimately, the Jeffrey was cute and a spot I would probably still recommend to someone who was directly in the neighborhood and needed somewhere to go, but I definitely wouldn't recommend a more than a couple of blocks trip to it.
