  1. Appreciate their happy hour! 4-7pm with $6 mixed drinks, $1 oysters and $5 appetizers. They have a couple TVs in the bar area playing sports but not too loud so you can still hear your friends' talks. A smaller area on the side can be rented for private event btw.

  2. Came here with a group of 9 on Sunday for brunch. We had made reservations so as soon as we arrived, we were immediately seated. The place looks great. Decent amount of seating at the bar and lots of tables. In the other room, there is a sofa type seating which is probably quite comfortable. There was also a coat rack by the restrooms.

I had the stuffed french toast. Surprisingly, this item is not on their online menus. The dish came with bacon and was stuffed with cream cheese. I wasn't exactly overwhelmed by the dish but the stuffed cream cheese didn't go well with the bacon and syrup. A mixture of sweet, salty, and sour. At the time I was deciding between dishes, I was also considering the chicken waffle club but there were mixed reviews about it so I decided against it. In terms of quantity, the waffle club is definitely worth it. I don't think my portion size was comparable. If anything, my dish was cheaper to make but yet I got less product.

As for drinks, I had a mimosa and it was fine. Nothing special about it. Not a strong alcoholic content.

The service was okay. After taking our orders and dropping off the food, they never came back to ask how were doing or to ask for refills. We had to flag them down for refills.

Overall, probably a great place to drink at. Fairly spacious. In terms of "real" food, I would go elsewhere.

  3. My husband and I stumbled across Malt House while touring around near Washington Square Park. We loved the look of the atmosphere inside and decided to stop in for a happy hour drink. We were very happy with the beer selection. (We had pints of Longboard Lager. We should have probably tried one of the craft brews on tap, but we were nostalgic for the beer we had on our honeymoon that;s not available in Canada where we're from, so we were happy.)

We also ordered the rosemary fries. Our order took a long time to come out, but when we let the manager know he handled it very well. We had fresh fries to go along with our beer in a matter of minutes on the house. Great customer care.

We loved the atmosphere and we'd like to go back again if we're even back in the neighbourhood

  4. OK brunch in the west village, was not very impressed by the food.  They have a bottomless brunch for an additional 15 bucks which is not bad, but the food failed to impress.  I ordered the eggs benedict which came with tater tots even though the menu said home fries?  First it took over an hour for the food to even come out, and my poached egg was not runny at all, and felt like the sausage was just also heated up from the freezer.  Would not be a place I recommend since there are a million other brunch places in the village to check out.

  5. i found this place on opentable when i was looking for somewhere to go with a larger group for birthday brunch. they have a great bottomless option- for an additional $15 you can choose between bloody marys, screwdrivers, bellinis, or mimosas and drink um for 2 hrs. not a bad deal and love that it encompasses all of the brunch beverages!

our table was ready when we got there and comfortably fit everyone. while the brunch menu is not huge, it did cover something for everyone (burger, french toast, eggs benedict etc).

so why 3 stars? the service couldve been better. it took almost an hour for our food to come out and i think our waitress may had also been working behind the bar? fortunately myself and the group i was with will flag whomever down if we need drink refills etc, but there was definitely some room for improvement.

  6. Cheese curds.
    Get the cheese curds.
I swear if I come here again I'm just getting two orders of cheese curds for me only. I might also get a beer. The rest of the menu is inferior to the cheese curds.

  7. Decided to stop by because we were on that block and wanted beers. It's a small gastropub, with a lot of different beer options. I got a Nectar beer first- it did taste like it had nectar in it. My friend got a Magic Hat. The menu is pretty good for bar food, we chose the tempura pickles and the mahi mahi tacos. It wasn't as great as I expected- the tempura kept coming off the pickles and the tacos were really salty. I also got a UFO white beer, which just tastes like water honestly. This was a convenient spot to go to, but I don't think I would come back willingly, it's just one of those places you'd stop by.

  8. Stopped in for brunch and really enjoyed the food.  Better yet, there was a two hour bottomless mimosa, Bellini, Bloody Mary special for just $15 with purchase of meal.  Can't beat that with a stick.  Darren, Roger and Anna served from behind the bar and were very friendly and made you feel at home.  This might be my new brunch spot.
