This Michelin folks know their food. I would have to agree with their rating.
Everything was excellent. You cannot go wrong with anything. Just ensure that you leave yourself plenty of time for a leisurely lunch or dinner.
Can for lunch and they have a prix fixe. Everyone says get the chicken for 2 but we were not that hungry. Had the burger and the single serving chicken. It's a chicken burger so don't order it medium or medium rare. The chicken skin on the breast was crispy and perfect. The side dishes were OK, but I would definitely visit again. Service was good.
Their drink/cocktail book is just a delightful way to start your evening. It's organized in such a way everyone can find something s/he likes.
We sat in the Atrium. Since it was before sunset, it was beautifully lit. The overall decor is beautiful and elegant, but not stuffy – it's warm and inviting. The cocktails are great and put me in even a better mood 🙂
The bread they give you (we got one w/ potato) is so delicious my husband could not stop eating. We had chicken liver appetizer and their 'famous chicken' Yes, it's pricey ($89 for 2), but this was amazing with 2 different preparations (foie gras, truffle, and ramps!). I couldn't finish and asked someone to wrap it up. He came back with a ticket so that I could pick it up on my way out, which was really nice.
The service is professional, seamless, and very thorough; but very friendly. I need to go back to taste the other drinks and menu items. A great place.
Okay so was thrilled to be staying here and also got reservations for dinner too. The restaurant was very busy and bar completely filled. We started with a couple specialty drinks mixed at the bar while waiting for our table. Two top was sort of small near fireplace. We ordered the chicken for two and it was stunning and there wasn't anything left at the end of dinner. We did have dessert but I didn't love as I was full from dinner. Wine list extensive and something for everyone.
Nomad is a special treat and you pay
For it too. Bill topped out at over $400 for two. It was a lot of food and more than we eat in two meals at home. Service spectacular.
For years I have been dreaming about a dinner at the Nomad dining room, but thanks to its consistently packed atmosphere, it was never a possibility…until one of my foodie friends mentioned his ability to score a table with ease. He did not have to twist my arm, and a group of us jumped at the chance to schedule an outing. On that fateful night, I joined them at a long table and snatched the restaurant's famed cocktail list. Their drinks were expertly divided by strength. My "light-spirited" Nod to Nothing was the perfect refreshing drink for spring with its London Dry Gin base; aromatic inclusion of Cocchi Americano, Jasmine Pearl Green Tea, and Sage; and citrus notes from apricot, yuzu, and lemon.
In addition to this expertly crafted cocktail, my experience began with several slices of zesty, doughy Potato and Onion bread, with which the restaurant wisely kept us fully stocked. But, that was only the start of the lengthy meal. We were glamorously presented with radishes that were dipped in velvety butter and sprinkled with fleur de sel; the silky glaze added an aire of elegance to an otherwise boring and unattractive vegetable. The Crudite platter resembled a miniature garden with raw vegetables sprouting out of a bowl packed with ice. While each crunchy bite was fairly ordinary on its own, taking advantage of the accompanying chive cream helped to step up the flavor. While these dishes were communal, the Fruits De Mer was my personal appetizer. This assortment of seafood delights contained various unique bites that ranged from heavenly (scallop) to bland. My brother decided to go with the Broccoli entrée as his appetizer. This large floret was roasted with lardo, splashed with lemon, and sprinkled with Parmesan. Sure, it was tasty for a vegetable, but it was also pretty over-cooked. In addition, it was not really worthy of being called a main course in my opinion. For our dinner, we shared the signature Whole-Roasted Chicken for Two, which was much more decadent than one might initially think. The skin had been removed, and the bird was smothered with foie gras and black truffles. The skin was then layered back on before the roasting. After a showy tableside presentation of the full bird, we were revisited with plated chicken breasts and the dark meat baked in a separate pan with cauliflower, lentils, and currants. While the white meat was moist, it really needed the foie and truffle flavoring to really make it stand out. The dark meat casserole, on the other hand, was absolutely incredible! Similar to a side of stuffing, it was comforting, hearty, and herbaceous; the underdog was really the star here. As full as we were from this massive feast, there was no way we were going to skip dessert, and we opted for the Carrot Cake. The portion was on the smaller side in comparison to the other desserts on the table, but the hunks of carrot loaf plated with a carrot puree and cream cheese ice cream was a perfectly executed example of a deconstructed dish.
Both the chicken and baked goods were terrific here, but overall, I could not say that it was entirely worth the hassle to secure a reservation or the steep prices. Yes, I would return to The Nomad, but I would not HAVE TO rush back as I had assumed I would.
Finally able to dine here. Haven't been lucky enough to grab a dinner reservation so I can here for lunch. Great service, great ambiance, AMAZING drinks, and good food. Good enough to warrant the price? Maybe not but good food nonetheless. I highly recommend the Nod to Nothing cocktail (which had gin, jasmine green tea, apricot, sage, and yuzu–those are some of my favorite things, ever). Friend mixed his own orange creamsicle cocktail and that was surprisingly bomb as well. Complimentary flatbread with fingerling potatoes was unique and served warm. Carrot tartare (with sprouts and rye), a star appetizer according to the server, was refreshing but overall a disappoint. We also had the Roast Chicken (for 2). It is served with Foie Gras, Black Truffle & Brioche with ramps, leeks, and crushed potatoes. They bring it out i na sizzling hot pan–great presentation–then take it back to cut the chicken breast for you. This is a great extra step but really wasn't worth it. I personally like all the bits near the bone and it just seemed like such a large chicken went to waste. The dark meat is served on the side (really delicious, loved this part). While I paid double what I think the meal was worth, I still enjoyed it and would recommend it to others.
As part of my NYC restaurant tour, covering both breakfast and dinner, I came with two friends for breakfast. The morning traffic was hectic and annoying, so it was great to step into the quiet, peaceful atrium that sits at the center of the restaurant. The venue has an interesting composition, with several different rooms surrounding the atrium from which natural light streams in. The decor is certainly different from that of many establishments in a similar range, with crushed red velvet lining half the surfaces in the room.
There were only a few other pairs of people quietly dining at eight in the morning, which was great as I was not feeling up to a hustling, bustling breakfast experience. One of my friends started with coffee, which he enjoyed (I'm not a coffee person so I can't comment), and I had a very nice jasmine pearl tea.
When I spotted the egg sandwich with duck sausage and cheddar, I knew I had found my match. It comes with a house-baked English muffin, which was nice, light, and airy. The duck sausage was simply disintegrating in my mouth, and in the best way! All things told, the dish was relatively simple but everything was done well.
I can't wait to return to the NoMad so I can give their dinner a spin!
EPIC x5. Last minute reservation, glad we fit it in our plans. Lovely meal, excellent service, incredible food. Sane group as 11 Madison. The tortelloni was to die for… Quite possibly the best pasta I've ever eaten! Slow roasted lamb was magnificent. Scallops were cooked to perfection. Desserts were EPIC!
