Grabbed a couple of bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon.

The order was incorrect as we asked for one to have salmon cream cheese but when we got home it was missing. The bagels were also very hard and did not seem fresh.

With plenty of options in the area I will not be returning.

I'm writing this strictly as someone who has had breakfast here – breakfast sandwiches and bagels – not the large hungry man sandwiches. I have passed this place for 2 years and its convenience made me stop in. The bagels weren't very fresh; they were hard and tasteless, but the egg sandwich was decent. The place looked super depressing, even with its bright colored signs and sandwich boards. It just had this lonely, dark feel to it. It also had the cooked meat smell; not the one that makes your mouth water, but the one that makes you want to gag. I also think it's very overpriced. We paid $12 for a stale bagel with tasteless veggie cream cheese and a mediocre egg sandwich. Note: they have a cash minimum.

While visiting the nearby Turtle Back zoo in West Orange, I came to this little deli for a quick bite. There was a rather large parking lot connected to the deli which was rather convenient. We were greeted by friendly staff when we first walked in. My omelette was tasty so was hubby's roast beef sandwich (loaded with roast beef). I do wish there were more condiments such as mustard and hot sauce displayed in the common area of the dining room.

I was looking for a place to have lunch for a few minutes and luckily stumbled upon Northfield Bagels and Deli. There is a big selection of sandwiches for you to order from plus various baked goods such as bagels, muffins, brownies, and different pastries.

"Smokey Joe" Triple Decker: Delicious! It's hard for me not to order a sandwich without meat in it, but this was enjoyable. The sandwich is essentially nova, cream cheese, Swiss cheese, whitefish spread, lettuce, and tomatoes on rye; think of a lox bagel but without any onions or capers. While it isn't as thick as the sandwiches with meat in them, this is a tasty, filling, and relatively healthier option. It's served with two pickle halves. You pick your own drink from their fridge.

Corned Beef and Salami "Sloppy Joe": This is the type of sandwich that non-New Jerseyans (what do I call people from this state?) like myself expect when we visit or move to the NJ/NY area. This sandwich has thick layer of shaved corned beef on top and a thick layer of shaved salami below the middle slice of bread. Russian dressing and cole slaw is also added to the sandwich, the reasoning behind it being called the "Sloppy Joe." Like the other sandwich, this is also served with two pickle halves.

There's enough parking spaces next to the restaurant. There was only one couple who ordered before me, but my order still took about 15 minutes. Still, the wait was worth it to me. The lady working the cashier is nice. Note that you order first, grab your drinks or whatever else, then pay after you're finished eating. Don't leave your plates on the table; either throw them away or throw the trash then stack them on top of the trash if you're given real plates. Food is reasonably priced and tastes great.

It's all the way down Northfield Avenue, but the location is on the corner; keep your eyes peeled so you don't miss it.
