The Oceanaire Seafood Room
“The newly renovated space looks much more modern and vibrant than McCormick and Schmick's had, and that seems to be the case with their menu as well.”
“My favorite dishes there are the crab cake appetizer (which rival those of any famous Maryland crab cake) and the Sesame seared ahi tuna entrée.”
“( the legal seafood one has better soup) my date and I ordered the 2 lb lobster and the 10oz steak with lobster tail .”

So, because the wait time for Houston's was ridiculously long this night, too long for me to wait with the kiddies, I hopped over to Oceanaire. It was my first visit, and there was a little wait time for a booth, the hostesses cleared out the table and escorted us over. These two young ladies were very nice and courteous.
I had two small children with me, and they provided them crayons and a coloring menu. So, yes, kid-friendly restaurant, unlike Houston's.
Ordered the Filet Mignon and potatoes, which was not at all what I was expecting; the portion was small and not really cooked the way I normally like my steak. This is more of a seafood spot then a meat spot. Which is why Houston's is the go to for that.
All in all, we had some pasta, and lemon meringue pie. Just okay. Perhaps, if I ever decide to return, I will try the oysters. The guy was shucking some at the seafood bar, looked like I should have ordered some of those instead.
Moseyed in here late Saturday afternoon for some light bites and Pinot Noir during a mall excursion. Formal Happy Hour is specific to weekdays only (4:00 PM to 7:00 PM), but they have a bar menu you can order from on the weekends also. (Sidebar rant – Weekday Happy Hours that end at 6:00 PM are completely BOOTLEG. Sometimes you can't arrive until 6:00 PM! Glad to see that Oceanaire extends the fun to 7:00 PM. We corporate lackeys thank you).
– Togarashi Grilled Shrimp…the shrimp was so good that we forgot to dip it in the damn Thai peanut sauce. Even the cole slaw was good.
– Spicy Ahi Tuna Poke…crispy wonton chips and some of the freshest tuna I've ever had. Flippin fantastic.
They offer a pretty extensive menu with several seafood options and preparation methods for both lunch and dinner. You can eat clean here, or you can eat no-so-clean here. Meaning, you can have your seafood steamed, or you can have it full-on dipped in butter, cream, or anything else your heart desires.
Not only do I need to give props to Yelper Mick L for bringing this place to the forefront for me with his great review, but I need to give props to my awesome date who actually reminded me to take pictures of our apps before we dug in. That's Yelpy behavior right there from a non-Yelper. I like.
Happy Hour Happy Hour Happy Hour
I've never run a restaurant, but I don't understand how a place could offer such a stellar well priced Happy Hour, but charge a ridiculous amount for dinner. What the deal with that?
Either way, the food is great here. The seafood is fresh, even the meat is good. Do Oysters, they do a baked oyster for happy hour that was so awesome.
The drinks are great too (Double O 7) and the bartenders are open to questions and suggestions.
We made reservations for my birthday dinner at The Oceanaire. Accommodations were asked for and received for one of guests whom had recently had surgery. Cute touches on the table were a birthday card and a customized menu with "Happy Birthday." We ordered a bottle of the Canyon Road Rose White Zinfandel. It was really really good! For the price it was awesome because the bottle was affordable and the cost of maybe two drinks for four or five drinks. We ordered the shrimp and grits plus crab cake for our starters. Although the shrimp and grits were yummy, as a Southern girl, those were not the grits I'm use too. They were much more grainy than that buttery smooth flavor and texture I love. The crab cake was perfect and all crab. For the main course, we ordered the ahi tuna and the shrimp scampi. I ordered the scampi and it wasn't what I expected. I wanted more garlic and more of a butter sauce. It was decent but I've had better scampi. The hubby said the tuna was good but he has had better. We ordered the bread pudding for dinner as they were out of the cobbler. We added ice cream and it was good but should have been warmer. Shawn was our waiter and gave us enough space to enjoy our food while still being attentive. Overall it was a good experience however I don't know if I would come back. I've had some great culinary experiences that were appealing to my palate. I'm a big seafood eater and although extremely fresh, I needed more flavor to the meal.
Thanks to Claudio and the entire management team and staff for making my experience at the Oceanaire a wonderful one. The quality of the food was amazing, our server was very warm and friendly. This is the Oceanaire experience I am a custom to and the reason why I would visit again.
This review is for the bar area. We stopped here for a cocktail after a rough day of after Christmas shopping. We each ordered a cocktail and split the clams casino appetizer which was recommended to us by the bartender. They were delicious and not your typical loaded with breadcrumbs….In fact these were topped with bacon. After another cocktail…I might add, the best dirty martini ever tasted…we ordered the crab cake sandwich to split with the truffle fries…another recommendation by the fabulous bartender. I wish I could remember her name but she's a brunette from Spain…so great. We had a ball that afternoon with our new card/personal trivia game and she joined right in with us. It was a great atmosphere and I can't wait to go back.
Come during happy hour. Otherwise it's overpriced for what you get.
Returned here for dinner on Saturday night and the place was poppin. We had 7:30 reservations and they made us wait ten minutes (okay I will deal) and seated us at the worst table (not cool!) Isn't the point of reservations to reserve a spot? Instead they seated walk ins before us at a corner table and us at a table by the entryway and kitchen. Really grinds my gears! The service was pretty attentive (which it should be for $100 per person.) The pour on our cocktails (not cheap) was lacking. Aren't martinis supposed to reach the top? This one was a good inch under. Where's the rest of the drink? My crab salad app was delicious and worth the $15 – saving grace of the meal. Real crab, none of that imitation stuff you find in these parts. Good thing I ordered a big app – the sesame seared ahi was more of an appetizer then an entree. For $38 they could at least give you a side (seaweed salad maybe?)
All in all you don't get that bang for your buck. A $200 meal should leave you feeling satisfied, not jipped!
