  1. Delicious pastrami with a capital D! Definitely not a Midtown secret, coming here for lunch means you're prepared to wait a good chunk of your lunch break in line, even if you ordered in your sandwich early!

I'm excited to come back sometime soon during not rush time (if that exists!), and to also try an actual basket one of these days for a leisurely day spent in Central Park.

  2. THESE are the kind of sandwiches Yogi Bear had in his pic-a-nic basket. Solid, neat sandwiches full of flavorful ingredients like chimichurri and great options like Crunchy Tuna and Fried Goat Cheese.

Pastrami – Hot pressed panini style. The cheese was melted beautifully and the pickled onions and sliced jalapenos gave it a great kick. The pastrami is leaner than what you'll find in a traditional deli like Katz or 2nd Ave but it's still really flavorful!

This place is small enough already, but during lunch hour can feel like an uncomfortable, packed elevator. There seemed to be a lot of smoke inside the store today, and it was hard to breathe while waiting for my sandwich. Hopefully their exhaust is getting fixed, or they really need to work on ventilation. The food is definitely worth the wait and they have reasonable prices (~$8). Looking forward to coming back!

  3. Oooh, this place saved me from one of those hangry moments that requires a Snickers. While in NYC for business, and in a suppper LONG meeting, I desperately searched for a nearby spot that would deliver to my building. Thankfully I found The Picnic Basket, and within 30-45 mins, was able to get my order during lunch rush.

The sandwiches are pretty thick and tasty! (There's also some pretty funky mixes to take your taste buds to heaven.) I also enjoyed my side salad, too. If and when I have to come back to the Big Apple, I will be sure to go back to this place.

  4. If you're looking for a good, hearty sandwich this is definitely the place to go!! It's small and always busy, but you can manage to find a table since most people are picking up to go, which if you're looking to save time, thats the way to do it! There are so many different sandwich options, I don't think you can go wrong. The bread is also fresh and delicious. I opted for a combo, to get a side of the quinoa salad and it was more than enough food, I had left overs for later.

    Enjoy!

  5. Absolutely delicious spot to come for lunch if you're in the Midtown area. Their sandwiches are simple in nature, but absolutely delicious in flavor. They have that "it" factor about them, whether it's simply just a sauce or oil, or just the quality of their meats…it's something that is making me want another sandwich right away! Be prepared for a crowd especially during the work day lunch rush, but they keep it moving along nicely.

Their roast beef sandwich is mouth-wateringly good!

*A nice alternative to Pokeworks, next door, where the wait is likely 40 minutes at least.

  6. They make great lemonade and I finally got to try their hummus bowl with an egg as a topping, great place! It gets very crowded during lunch time, there's limited seating, but it's a cozy store, the staff is friendly, should be back for lunch again.

  7. Dreaming of Picnic-ing in Central Park? or Bryant Park?
These are the baskets Yogi the Bear would dream about stealing!
"heyyyy Booboo let's go out and steal some Pic-uh-nic baskets"

Located right between Chick-fil-a and Pokeworks!
Great healthy lunch option if you're working in the area!
I, however came around 4:30 pm on Tuesday and it was not crowded at all.

You can stay in and they serve your food in a open basket! minimal waste 😛
Veggie Sandwich in a Pita bread (also have ciabatta, multigrain and gluten-free for bread options)

    It was
-Moist (lol) from the right amount of Hummus and Marinated red roasted peppers
    -Fresh Crunch from the Cucumbers
-Light Crisp from the Alfalfa sprouts
    -Meaty weight from the eggplant

When they say "Optionally Spicy," in my sandwich case it was Sriracha sauce. Definitely a good kick of spice.

It was a pretty satisfying sandwich. My only wish was that I could have slowed down to enjoy it more.

The cashier was super friendly and personable.
She informed me that the chocolate chip cookies and all the pastries in the jars were homemade by a lady that doesn't own a business.

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE is a little expensive (b/w $1-2) for the size. I ate two in total, 1 before my sandwich and then 1 after my sandwich because I was really craving a chocolate chip cookie the night before. It's also my happy place.

You can order online or through their app and pick it up on the side.
Already mentally planning a picnic in my head for the summer!

  8. Solid lunch spot in midtown, an area that leaves a lot to be desired. My go to sandwich is the crunchy tuna, and for $8.75 it's very filling without putting me in a food coma for the rest of the day.

When I'm not in the mood to brave the line at just salad, I come to picnic basket. It's also fun to gawk at the people in an hour long line for poke works. I don't know what those people do that they can take so much time off of work to wait in that line, but hire me?
