First time visitor and I must say. If you go by the reviews this place is not that great. Well it was this evening for this meal. The turkey wings was prepared very well. The cabbage was on point and the yams. Well to get the best taste of the yams I tried them first to see if the sweetness was there. And sure enough it was. Than went every thing else. The turkey wings had me wanting to forget I was out and suck the bones. But I was a good eater today
Was a very good simple Sunday dinner.
The staff was wonderful. Friendly and pleasant and was very suggestive of what was good. And she was on point today.
The music. Was awesome. Old slow..Like I was in my car. So nice and low in the air. Soul factory. Keep up the good work

I give them 3 stars and the extra star is for the drink lol. I had fried chicken with fries for $6 which was pretty decent and it's a good amount for the cost. The chicken pieces were huge. I took home ribs..and I didn't care for it much. Rice and beans were well seasoned but you will need gravy. Mac and cheese is pretty good. The bartender and my friend said they are good for seafood, so I will have a better idea when I try it.
My service was great. Bartender, manager, and waitress constantly asked if I was alright, and if I needed anything else. I sat at the little bar area. My drink was sweet and stiff how I like it. It had jack and pineapple; the name of the drink fails me. I don't know many places in East Orange that has a liquor license so this is a good look.
The atmosphere is decent inside. The music is nice and mellow, and the parking lot is a super plus. I definitely will return for a drink and a quick bite. The potential is there.
This is my second visit as this location recently moved to EO. That being said, I was happy to hear EO was getting a soul food restaurant. My hubby had tried them out on a Saturday night and was impressed but wasn't the happiest with his turkey wings ( they were a tad dry.) He called ahead for a whiting sandwich, lemonade & peach cobbler. By the time, I arrived his food was ready which I liked. Most soul food places you should always expect a wait. Upon arrival, I was promptly greeted & given a menu. I inquired about the specials, lunch and of course what was good on menu. I decided on the chicken with waffles. The host was very kind and the service was solid. One of my condiments spilled in the bag & again the host was gracious enough to change my bag & container.
Food was on point. I paid $1 extra for white meat and received a huge breast & wing. Chicken was seasoned well & the waffles were fluffy & buttery. I tried the peach cobbler and it was yummy.
The inside of the restaurant was cozy with nice pieces of artwork. The quaint little bar is a bonus. We will be back again.
