  1. Really enjoyed this bar. Came after a more rowdy experience at the Beer Garden across the street.

Super low key and quiet. Dim lighting, very cozy. Chill vibes all around.

Friendly bartenders. Really good cocktails. Didn't try the food but read the menu – everything sounded awesome – hope to return.

  2. Love the atmosphere, service was normal to me- nothing to complain about but also nothing that WOWed me. Ordered the truffle grilled cheese which was my biggest takeaway as I didn't think it would be a possible combination. It was not heavy at all, and the truffles added the perfect texture and touch of flavor to this grilled cheese. I would definitely recommend this brunch spot!

  3. 3.5

Guy Fieri is my reason for checking this place out.  It also just so happens that it's in one of my favorite neighborhoods.  So when this place came on Triple-D, it was instantly added to the list.

Came here with my girlfriend and some friends on a Friday night during lenten season sooo no meat for us!
It was very dark, more of a bar feel than a restaurant, but definitely expected on a Friday night.  The decor was old-fashioned and by that I mean a lot of old looking furniture lol.  I'm a sucker for cool light fixtures, so a check next to that box, and there was ample seating.

One of the dishes highlighted on Guy Fieri's show was their Veggie Burger ($11).  It was actually very good for a veggie burger, although it could've used some cheese.  The waitress didn't ask us if we wanted to add cheese but I guess that it was our fault for not seeing that option on the menu.

We ordered mac n' cheese because it had our favorite cheese combination, but it was alright at best.  Not as cheesy as I'd like.  We had a side of truffled aioli and mixed some of it in there just to make it more enjoyable.

We topped off the dinner with the crème brûlée and it had all the components of a good crème brûlée:  a hard caramel easily broken by the back of the spoon, and a creamy vanilla custard.  Didn't really have a WOW factor for me though.

Service was great!  Waitress was super friendly, and the man working with her who seemed to be in training did a great job as well.  They were attentive, making sure empty plates were off our table and waters were filled.

Despite the great service and good food, I don't really know what I'd come back here for.  The grilled cheese maybe?

  4. Guy Fieri told me to come here and try their veggie burger, so I came here and tried their veggie burger.

I came here with a group of five on a Friday night during Lent, so no no meat allowed for us. The menu was pretty solid, and they had a lot of options for us that didn't involve meat. We were seated quickly and service was fine – no complaints there.

We were seated in a back corner. It was pretty dark, so I wouldn't even be able to tell you much about what this place looks like. The bathroom, though dark, was cleaner than I expected.

And onto the food – my boyfriend and I split all of these:
    – Veggie Burger ($11): probably the best veggie burger I've had! Don't be like us and make the mistake of forgetting to add cheese (the waitress didn't ask, so I assumed it already had cheese)
    – with Rosemary Fries (+ $4): a pretty small portion of fries. They were alright. Crispy, but I didn't really notice the Rosemary.
    – add Truffle Aioli (+ $1): definitely worth it. Since we forgot to add cheese, the truffle aioli added a creaminess to the burger that we were lacking.
    – Mac & Cheese ($11): I've had better. Somehow, it wasn't cheesy enough for me, and it was pretty dry. We actually added the truffle aioli to the Mac and cheese to make it better. Again, the portion seemed pretty small.
    – Vanilla Creme Brûlée ($8): the price isn't on the dessert menu, so it's a good thing you're reading this! It was a good size for two to share. I got parts of the sugar that was a little burnt, but overall it was a solid Creme brulee.

Maybe I'll be back here, but I wouldn't go out of my way b

  5. Cliff's Notes Version: the croissant french toast is so good, it's unfair.

We came here for brunch one Saturday morning. I love brunch in dive bars…it's a great confluence of luxury–splurging on yourself by sleeping in and then going out for a fancy, boozy breakfast–with unassuming atmosphere, lived-in confines, loud music and relaxed service. I felt right at home at the Sparrow, right away.

Atmosphere is all well and good, but the clincher is the food, and I am not exaggerating when I say that the Sparrow's french toast is the best I've ever had, anywhere, ever. Maybe I've been living under a rock, but I had never had croissant french toast until this, and it was just insanely good…I don't even know how to describe it other than to say that it captured all of the best qualities of a croissant, all of the best qualities of french toast, and somehow merged them together…a pinch of herbs and some legit Vermont syrup only made it that much more spectacular.

  6. We needed brunch and we needed it without wait. My sister and her fiance have been here before as it's a shared hobby to try and go to Triple D places whenever possible. Just cause. So when they brought me here after a night out in the city, I was very excited.

My sister and I ordered mimosas,, because hello, brunch, and we spent some time debating on what to get. I ordered the egg and brie breakfast sandwich with apple smoked bacon. It comes with a freshly tossed salad. In addition, we ordered a round of rosemary fries for the table. holy cow. gastro heaven.

When my egg and brie sandwich made it out to the table, my sisters jaw unhinged, 'there's a whole thing of brie on there,' she said, sticking her nose into my sandwich (not literally)

However, she was so right. I quickly chowed down on my salad (I always save the best for last), dabbed some Cholula hot sauce under the bread, and then cut into the egg and brie sandwich to make it easier to eat. One bite and I couldn't put it down. The runny egg getting sopped up by the melting brie and the perfectly crisped italian bread was perfection. A true savory delight. As I said in my photo caption of the sandwich, it's a contender for my last meal options (not that i'm going to prison or receiving capital punishment anytime soon…)

The restaurant itself is so charming, it has the same kind of vibe as my adorable hippy college town in the hudson valley, which i miss. Which is probably why I wasn't surprised they'd be churning out delicious meals.

  7. Tried this place for the first time for bruncbruI ordered the steak and eggs, and sweet potato fries. I didn't enjoy the food here at all. I asked for a medium steak, which came out hidden under over cooked ocer easy eggs, the steak was rubbery and not very tasty. My friend's eggs were also very over cooked and she was served a different type of bread rather than what was on the menu. She wasn't happy either.
This place isn't very big, a handful of tables, a bar and good service, but the food just wasn't good 🙁
    Happy Yelping!

  8. So i was pretty excited to try out this place since many raved about their veggie burgers…

Of course i ordered the veggie burger with rosemary fries while my friends ordered the chicken sandwich and fish & chips.
Now the fish & chips are a sautéed version here. When the plate came out, it looked like a plate of oil with the chips as garnish on the side. Very bare. This plate should definitely have been fulfilling but it wasn't. We could probably count how many fries there were; with the fish in the middle seeping oil. Taste wise is okay. Nothing too special going on.
But the chicken sandwich was the highlight of our 3 dishes. Maybe its the jalepeno in it but it definitely gave it the oomph it needed.
As for my veggie burger, yeah, i definitely don't understand the hype. Its dull. Not many flavors going on and its just packed with greens that it overwhelms anything else. Overall, the food was very average to me. It did come with an extremely yummy sauce but if i added that to the burger, i could taste nothing else.
Also, im a huge fan of rosemary fries. I feel like just because you add the actual twigs of rosemary onto our plates, it doesn't mean the taste will be there…
