It was a cold, windy night and all my friend and I wanted was some delicious comfort food before a show at The Wellmont. We walked by The Spot, took a look at their menu, were reminded of when it was Mac Attack, and thought we'd give it a shot since Mac Attack wasn't that bad. Baaaaddddd idea. Too bad we didn't check Yelp first, otherwise we would have run the other way, but we were already seated with drinks when we realized this place had such bad reviews.
I won't go in to too much detail because I'd basically be echoing what every Yelp reviewer is saying. The mac and cheese we ordered (traditional and southwestern) both came out cold, lukewarm at best. They claim everything is made to order. Oh really? I beg to differ. We also ordered buffalo bites as our appetizer, they came out with our mac and cheese and they were cold, almost frozen in certain areas. We barely touched our food, ate what we could, and left vowing never to go back.
And, to top it all off, the bathroom had no soap. I politely pointed this out to our waiter and he thanked me for letting him know. Did he do anything about it? No. Did I see two employees go in there to use the bathroom? Yes. Did they wash their hands? I can only hope they did once they got back in the kitchen. I still to this day wonder if they ever filled up the soap dispenser. I guess I'll never know because I'll never be back.
seemed like a cool place with healthy foods and options for those that are gluten sensitive or have a vegan lifestyle. After experiencing the rude staff I contacted management and they did not care or respond back. So, that's why they get one star. I cannot support a local business that doesn't care about customers, which is fine because not only did they lose two friends and myself as customers, but a large amount of my friends that are vegan and are sensitive to gluten. SEE YA! Off to Toast and Positivitea where they care about their customers! I will not be coming back
Don't say you're open until 2am unless you're actually open until 2am. It's 12:40 and you're full on closed. Bullshit.
Not very consistent. The last two times I have actually dined in, I've discovered just how oddly awkward the space and feel of the place is. Can't quite put my finger on it, but my medium rare sliders were well done and flavorless – a huge departure from the first couple of times that I ordered burgers to go. They still do not have any milkshakes either, which I find to be really strange. Perhaps more disconcerting is the absence of any adults on staff.
Service and cleanliness have really hovered around "not-so-good" lately…hope that they can improve in those areas.
My boyfriend is gluten free so when I first saw this menu, I knew he would flip and we would HAVE to try it. Came mid-afternoon on a nice weekend, expecting to see some type of activity but there was only 1 other family seated. Some alarms are going off at this point.
Shortly after we were seated, I noticed there wasn't a single person above the age of 23 running the place. More alarms.
Our waiter came by, and right off the bat it was obvious he was very new to both the restaurant scene and this establishment in particular. I ordered an Honest Half & Half Iced Tea (didn't actually say the "iced tea") and he literally thought I wanted half & half milk/cream…. so yea. Anyway we placed our order.
For me: Hit the Spot burger, requested MR temp (caramelized onions, spinach, mushrooms and gruyere) + side salad
For my bf = Naked Chicken Tenders + Parmesan Truffle fries
My burger was overcooked, but was good otherwise. Salad was of substantial size but not a fan of the dressing. We were impressed by the chicken tenders, but these are so hard to come by gluten free maybe our perception was skewed. The tenders came with fries, which we didn't know when ordering the additional fries but we were glad we did because they were really good.
I mean the place was empty, so maybe they had the time to put together our food thus giving us a better experience than of the other patrons who have reviewed. Who knows. Had the service a step up from elementary.. maaayybe they would have gotten the 4th star. To be frank, the food wasn't the reason I won't be coming back. I'm reluctant to even order take-out but who knows what will happen on a Friday night at 1AM and this is the one of the few places still open in town…
