Decent, but not as good as their other locations. Try their tacos at the Hoboken location and you won't be as disappointed. Although my tacos were tasty, they were not nearly as good as NJ.
The Taco Truck NY: Manhattan: High Line 4pm Saturday 24th May 2015 Two Stars
They ran out of bunch of stuff. They only had beef and pork. An order is $6 for Two Tacos. They give you a luke warm tortilla and plop of meat. That is their idea of a taco. The pork was fine but the beef was way too salty.
This truck usually roams around in NJ in Hoboken, Jersey City and Newark. Now normally I am not a big fan of anything NJ (except maybe for Jersey walls and the non-chaotic Newark Airport), but this taco truck pleasantly surprised me. Either that, or I was extremely hungry.
After skating for 90 minutes, we were hungry and thirsty. But first, food! I wasn't in the mood for lobstah rolls and Eddie's Pizza closed down at 10:30pm. So I had no other choice but the Taco Truck.
I mean really? Does the name get more authentic? They are calling themselves "The Taco Truck." OK, you better live up to the name.
They were pretty much out of everything I could eat. I was very interested in the fish tacos, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. I had no other options but to get the hongos.
I love hongos. Mushrooms rock. They make my life so good. This order came with two soft tacos filled with marinated hongos, onions and some cilantro. Now for $5, I think its pretty steep. And it didn't come with pico de gallo or anyhing else. Fail on the condiment part. But, the hongos were extremely well marinated. They were moist, flavorful, with a nice woody overtone. Next time, I'll make them put some more fillings in it.
The counter help was really nice and I like that they have a microphone to yello out orders. Makes me feel like I am at a carnival or something…
Was not impressed. I waited forever for my taco and held up the group I was with. People who ordered after me got their order before me. The taco shells were a bit stale and the chicken was a bit dry. However, if i didnt pay extra for the guac i wouldnt think it was worth it. The guac was fresh and crunchy with fresh onions and the pickled onions were a nice touch. Wouldnt want to go back.
I've had The Taco Truck previously at another location and really enjoyed their kale and potato taco. Sadly they didn't have it this time so I went with a carnitas burrito and added pickled onions. The taco was pretty good and flavorful. It was a good size and I would say it's comparable to Chipotle. The only negative about it was some of the rice was undercooked and crunchy. I would probably eat here again.
I had spent the evening walking a couple of miles and then added the High Line to my route. I was starving and was so glad to not be disappointed here. I got two of the carnitas michoacan – slow braised sweet pork with onions, cilantro, and fresh green salsa. I also added guacamole. Holy guac! The pork was so tasty and completely satisfied my hunger. I really liked the tortillas, super fresh, soft, and warm. They put three tortillas, they're kind of heavy. I tried to eat only two, but that easily did not happen.
The service was really friendly. They were ready to clean up and go home, but let me be the last customer.
I've tried the Taco Truck before in Jersey City, but this time it made a lasting impression. Good stuff! Can't wait to go back to another location.
The tacos and tortas are pretty good. Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but it's a good stop to eat after walking the Highline.
The tacos come in twos ($6) with your choice of meat. Each time I've had them, they could have been a bit warmer. I will say that they do a good job piling on the sauce, so beware because it can get a bit messy!
The people who work there are great and incredibly friendly. Super down to earth and fun! Also, the incredible view from the Highline is a huge plus. It's a great place to grab a quick bite and enjoy the view of the water.
