“Across the street from beautiful Verona Park and a municipal parking lot very close by with ample parking.”

“My favorites are Confetti Cake Batter and Cookie Monster (Yes, it's blue, hence the name).”

I thought this place was cute. It was deceivingly spacious on the inside. I thought they made their ice cream in house but they dont. No matter, some flavors they did make, like the pumpkin ice cream. It was not too sweet, just right. I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't heavy. Had it on top of a sugar cone. Btw they put some serious healthy scoops atop my cone. And it was relatively inexpensive. I enjoyed my ice cream.

Came here after dinner one night looking for dessert and was it a nice treat! The service was really nice. The place was rather small and they didn't have a huge selection of flavors…maybe because it was Winter? Anywoo, the lady behind the counter was courteous enough to let me know if they did or didn't have certain flavors. She said she had a few more options in the back. I was looking for anything really, while my other half was interested in something nutty; almond, pistachio, something of that sort. They didn't carry either but the lady said they would be able to add walnuts to any of the flavors; they did however had Butter Pecan.

In the end I had picked the Cookie Monster ( blue dyed vanilla with fudge chunks) and the Salted Caramel. I got a junior cup of Cookie Dough for the other half. Less than $6 for a junior size and a small with two flavors is a thumbs up in my book, and everything tasted great! You get that it's made locally. I guess my only deduction to this place that the selection of flavors is somewhat of a snooze.

The Towne Scoop won't let you down. What it's lacking in ambience* and flavor variety** is more than made up for when jamming your face full of their ice cream. This is a no nonsense place with room for maybe eight to comfortably wait and really the only thing that matters is that the ice cream is very good. The service is friendly, quick and attentive (as I would be if I could sample ice cream all day long) and the prices are good for the portions.

If you are not looking to run a mile or seven after you go to the Towne Scoop, order a kids size or share a small in a cup. As Americanized sizes go, the small is probably an extra large in another country, weighing in at more than two scoops. It's my fault though that I am too embarrassed to order a kids size, even with my kids, so I tend to succumb to the small cup that leaves me immobile for a short time, but happy.

    * Who needs ambience in an old time ice cream parlor anyway? I mean if the ice cream is really, really good and it comes out of the back of a random van or perhaps a tiny old shop that has not been changed much in ages, who cares? Not me, throw another scoop on there.

**I don't require a rotating bonanza of thought provoking flavor combinations or a Top Chef inspired gastronomic experiment into bacon ice cream, however, all the flavors are the same every day. No wait, coconut and banana switch sometimes – all of the other flavors stay the same, every day. I liked rainbow sherbet when I was a kid, but really – every day? You can't throw me something like a Cherry Garcia once in a while?
