Do you like truffles? Then you'll probably like the Truffleist. Don't like truffles? then something's wrong with you, but also, you'll be better off going to another one of the stands at Madison Square Eats. The cheesesteak itself was fine, a little bread heavy, but loaded up with a very strong truffle oil. Like, brush your teeth if you have a meeting afterwards.
It is ridiculously hard to remember how to spell The Truffleist. But their sandwiches I'll remember forever. They are soo good!
I tried the Goat Cheese with Truffle Honey Cheesesteak at Broadway Bites. It was out of this world! There is something about salty creamy cheese with honey that is just salivatingly good. Add a little truffle oil into the mix and the sandwich practically sells itself.
It really was just the right amount on top of the cheesesteak, but I wish, (just for those days of pure indulgence), that I could have had a little bit of that mixture spread on the bread itself and mixed up a bit more into the meat… It was that good.
When I go to food fairs like Madison square eats I always seek out vendors that don't have restaurants outside of the fair. This season the Truffelist stood out because I knew I could get them anywhere else.
I love cheese steak!!!! A few things I look for: tender meat, lots of cheese, well seasoned.
I went with the classic truffle cheesesteak.
-it did smell like truffles but not enough to charge $15 -it was a small sandwich considering the price but the ratio of meat to bread was just right -it had good flavor but meat was a bit tough -Definitely missed the ooey gooey cheesiness of a cheese steak.
