  1. Solid spot to grab beers and grub in Yorkville.

I came here last week with a buddy visiting from out of town.  We had an early flight to Colorado the next morning to kick off a ski vacation so we were pumped to drink libations and devour food in celebration.  I received the "I'll go wherever you decide because you live here" speech from my friend so this is where we landed.  Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.

The restaurant has a good setup, including the bar and high top tables in the front and a larger seating area in the back.  There were televisions broadcasting college hoops and sports highlights, which was a plus in my book.  The atmosphere was relaxing and ideal for catching up with friends (my situation) or having a casual/first date (the table next to us).  Our waiter was friendly and did a good job of recommending food and drinks.

The beer menu is awesome.  There's a wide selection of bottles and drafts, varying in style and country of origin.  You could order something familiar (i.e. Bud Light), but that's boring and their options are too good.  Some of my favorites from the night were the Orval Trappist Ale, Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, and Ommegang Three Philosophers Quadrupel Ale.  Honestly, you really cannot go wrong with any of their "reserve bottles."

The dinner menu is expansive, including snacks, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, entrées, and pizza.  I ordered the lamb burger with sweet potato fries.  The burger, which was served with tzatziki sauce and spices on an English muffin (cool), was delicious.  The fries were also tasty.  My buddy got the bison burger, which I'm assuming he enjoyed considering he finished it in about 0.02 seconds.

I definitely recommend it.  I'll be back again soon!

  2. I've come here twice yet I don't really remember much, which is why this place gets three stars.  From my brief memory, I think the burgers and beer were solid.  They have nice outdoor seating for the summer.

  3. Third Avenue Alehouse is a solid place to go for drinks, snacks, or dinner. Inside it looks like a standard pub-type place with dark wood, TVs, and normal tables set up. It also has nice outdoor seating on the sidewalk in front and on the side of the restaurant, which is a major plus when the weather gets nice. What's better than drinking good draft beer and people watching in NY?! Nothing. The answer is nothing.

I went here for dinner and drinks last night, and it was pretty good. I started with an amber ale they had on draft and that was perfecto. Then I ordered the sprout salad, which has shredded Brussel sprouts, Brie cheese, raisins, potatoes, and some other goodies. It was delicious but maybe a little pricey for a pub salad (albeit fancy looking) without meat at $16.

Overall, this place is definitely a good staple for drinks and the food is nice but a little overpriced on the salad side.

  4. I was pleasantly surprised walking into this bar after seeing an event at the 92nd Street Y. This bar had one of the best beer selections I've seen lately, and their sliders were pricey — but delicious. The ambiance is nice — casual and warm. The crowd was your typical Upper East side after-work hours crowd. I would definitely return here again for the beer line-up alone!

  5. This place is solid.  Nice beer selection and a solid American menu.  My wife and I split nachos and then each got a burger.  Nachos were huge, and we added black beans and pulled pork.  Top two of nachos that I've ever had. The burger was solid, but after the nachos I was sort of full.  A little on the rare side of medium for me, but after some rest time was a little more firm with an English muffin bun glued to the cheese.  "Seasoned fries" we're more like fresh cut fries, good but not as typically advertised.  Great beer selection.   Bottom line, get he nachos!

  6. Loved it! So delicious. I had the turkey burger with sweet potato fries. I really enjoyed the texture, so juicy, and tasty.
My daughter had the chicken club sandwich regular fries. She was very pleased.
We split the Tortufo for desert. It was just enough.
Prices are reasonable for the taste, portion, atmosphere and quality service. Our server Melissa was so nice. The staff made sure our drinks were refilled timely.
    I'll be back for sure!

  7. Came by for brunch on Sunday with a few friends. They'd been there before but I checked it out on Yelp before coming in.

    Not too far? check.
    Decent prices? check.
    Interesting menu selections? check.

I had the Third Ave. Eggs Benedict and it was delicious. I had never had Eggs Benedict with chicken sausage before but I really liked it.

Also, the bartender was great! We sat in a part of the restaurant where you had to order from the bar and initially I thought it would be tough to get food and that we might bother the bartender, however, she was super welcoming, accommodating, and friendly.

    I will definitely be back!

  8. Living on York Ave is the Upper East Side I often have trouble looking beyond 2nd ave for a reliable spot for a beer and a bite. Shame on me as we only just discovered this bar with a great tap selection, outdoor seating and delicious menu. Far enough from 86th where there isn't a ton of foot traffic but still very walkable. I did the fish tacos and went with dogfish to keep to my nautical theme but we both really enjoyed it. We will surely return!
