This is the type of place I miss from London and Birmingham.
I had the chicken biryani. It was a fair portion for $7. The dish was very tasteful, and it was ready quite quickly.
It looks like the menu changes on a daily basis. They have example plates of the dishes available for the day in a showcase at the front of the store.
Also, they serve breakfast all day.
Pre-Yelp, I would have looked at a random food establishment in an industrial area near LGA and recoiled in fear. Now, it's more like, "I haven't been to a 4 star place within a mile of where I live?!"
I had the opportunity to check out Tikka Grill for lunch today and left very happy. Their menu is primarily Pakistani and Indian Halal food. Everything is made fresh to order. Since it's a family-run kind of place, they will customize anything you want. The menu is huge for such a small place.
I got a few chicken seekh kababs, which come as one long sausage, as opposed to chopped meat pieces on a skewer. They are flavored with onion and herbs, and I don't think I've ever tasted so much flavor in chicken before.
As an off-the-beaten-path kind of place, portions are huge and prices are not (they have multiple enormous platters for $10). I'm looking forward to getting delivery from here. Something tells me that eating their food with the ambiance of my living room will enhance the flavor in a way that their adjoining Gulf Station did not.
