This was one of my first Indian meals I'd ever tried. The shrimp dish was amazing but a little hot for my sensitive taste buds! The mango lassi helped and was bomb. Also the Chicken Tikki Masala was really good. I'd definitely go back! It felt modern inside. It was packed even on a cold, Sunday night!
The food was great. I ordered some chicken tandoori which was juicy and not dry. The naan was great. The decor was nice and the servers were friendly. The best was the BYOB policy.
Delicious Indian food.
Usually when I go to Indian restaurants they put WAY too much on the menu (understood because India is a huge country with many culinary traditions) and I get overwhelmed. Tikka has a concise, simple and short menu that is broken up into appetizers, entrees & desserts. The entrees are then further divided by protein: fish, chicken & lamb. There are descriptions for each. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and the rogan josh. All were very well cooked and perfectly spiced. The rogan josh (I kept calling it the josh groban…) has a small kick so if you are not into spicier foods avoid it. I appreciate the small kicks.
The service is excellent and the restaurant is designed beautifully.
I will definitely order with them via seamless. I hope Tikka stays in the neighborhood for long. Williamsburg really needed a beautiful Indian restaurant like this since there is such a plethora of pizzerias.
Why the 5 stars? I have absolutely no idea! The food was not even spicy whatsoever. The most bland North Indian food I have ever had in my life. Peshawari nan tasted like nothing. It's supposed to be stuffed with coconut and raisins. The chicken korma sauce was also completely bland. Even the chutney was bland. Never again.
There are certain cuisines where when the decor is really cute and new and nice it raises some suspicions. All of my usual favorite Indian joints are pretty cheesily decorated with old fashioned tapestries, vinyl booths, or plastic-covered tables. So I walked by this new spot a few times skeptically, noting the mason jar glassware, trendy wall color, and rustic wood tables. It just didn't seem right. Luckily my fellow yelpers set thing straight and helped me throw aside my biases and I was very happy I was proven wrong. The food here is so legit – from curries to biryani to the apps. I believe we had samosa chaat to start which isn't something we'd normally order but we took the server's advice and it was incredible.
Also good to know that it's BYOB with a liquor store conveniently across the street. Though the ambiance was a bit different from what I'm used to with traditional Indian restaurants, I really liked how clean and sleek it was, and it still felt homey due to the extremely friendly service. Plus they deliver! I think I've found my new favorite local Indian spot.
So we have been passing by tikka for some time thinking "is this a fancy gentrified spice garden?" (For those of you not from these parts, spice garden was an ever-empty Indian restaurant with loyal delivery-only fans on seamless).
We went to see the new Miles Davis movie at Williamsburg cinema then decided to finally check it out. We were not disappointed. Staff said it was new management vs spice garden. Well food was still as good. We ordered the lamb saag, garlic naan and rice which was enough for both of us.
A reliable source for good Indian food.
After reading several 5 star reviews and doin some investigation to make sure all the accts were real (lol!!!) i decided to rsvp here for my bf's 29th bday.
And u know what guys.. The hype is real. I've had indian food a couple of times from several 4 star places (its kinda hard to find one w all 5 stars) and they were all just "pretty good/alright." But this place, this place set it off.
Their dishes are jus the right portion with lots of flavoring in their lamb and chicken (didnt getto try any other meats) and their naan (garlic naan to be exact) is so soft and fluffy and doesnt get hard even after sittin there!
I do like spice so i ordered the black pepper chicken w 3 chilis next to it on the menu and it was sososososo good! Got my bf sweatin tho LOL i totally recommend that if u love spicy food!
The staff was very nice! Informative, friendly and checked on us often. The bathroom and restaurant looked exceptionally clean. I know i will be back for more great food! So happy to have found this place!!! And so happy that my bf enjoyed his bday dinner here!!! #win
I LOVE THIS INDIAN RESTAURANT!!! I have finally found something to replace my favorite indian food place also in NYC. I was a bit skeptical walking in – being stubborn that there is no other place better, but Tikka has def proved me wrong. I was like why is there a random restaurant like this in williamsburg? The staff were super attentive and so friendly. I enjoy seeing staff actually smiling at guests as well as each other. What a positive vibe to eat with!
The food was off the charts super flavorful and the wait wasn't that long at all. I'm so glad I live near here now so I can feast here often. The samosa chat was unlike any other samosa I've had – It was more like an open samosa which means.. more filling !! The yogurt balanced the spice perfectly and I wish I had more. Please do try it!
We also had the Lamb Saag which is the soft like butter lamb + spinach … along with the Aloo Gobi oh my gosh so awesome!!
Also note its BYOB until they get a liquor license! Awesome!
